I'll try what you siad, the other one is running right now... it just downloaded... like i said in my edited post... Maybe i'll just swear at it like you said... though it tends to make things worse... ramblerambleramble
edit: I can't download your file devicenull, its been going for 10 minutes and its still at 0%. sorry
Important question: it asks whether it should automatically delete infected files. What if one of them is required to start up the computer??
OK I am running the file that Monsieur wanted me to... It didn't work, but then I clicked on another application and a bunch of files appeared... then it worked... Now it's running.
Microsoft.com is recommending that i download a firewall, then add a patch, then update antivirus software, and then do what I am doing now. here is the link <a href='http://microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp' target='_blank'>link</a>
What is preventing the worm from attacking my computer again the minute it is fixed (if ever)?
Also.. do you know any free antivirus software? Because McAfee hasn't detected anything for awhile, and i am POSITIVE that msblast.exe was there, until McAfee tried to "clean" it, then delete it, and then it said the msblast.exe was either moved or renamed and sorry but you will just have to live with it MUAHAHAHAHAHA.
OK now a console appeared called "VSCANTIM.BIN" and it says that it couldn't scan so and so and that there was an error here and then it says "-94" whats happening? Is this normal, or does all software turn to crap the minute it reaches my computer?
K guys... big news. You know that file that f***ed up FileBlast.exe and made it crash? Well that SAME file wasn't able to be scanned this time around as well. A bunch of other files contained errors too, but no viruses were found. This is the exact file: <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> the file itself is called, without the quotes "TR_Popunder;kw=Age+of+Kings+strategy;pos=1;sz=720x300;tile=1;!category=gaming;!category=tobacco;!category=adult;!category=sexualovertones;ord=21915360623438[1] <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Wow... Tried downloading DoD AGAIN, just to tell myself that the worm was still there... O well i said to myself... and then "what would you like to do? Save this file to disk? " WOW it actually is working... through all those restarts and crashes and downloads... the virus seemed to dissappear, long enough for me to download and hopefully play DoD. It is currently 1% completed, with 24 hours and 20 minutes left to go... hahaha i love fileplanet...
Congratulations for removing the virus <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
I learned to download files from fileplanet before midday here (GMT +1), theres almost nobody there at this time.

Dont you guys know about some memory tester program? My explorer (not ie) is for last 3 or 4 days crashing about 20 times a day, sotimes saying it cant read or write to memory so i want to check my memory (but i think its some nice windows feature, because if it is in memory, there would be other things crashing not just explorer). I think i will have to reinstall my WIN XP for the 32654145876 time (but first i will try the beta SP2, if it fixes it, i wont have to reinstall, if it does more damage, i will have to reinstall same as if i didnt instaled it).

I am postive there is still a virus on my computer... ran Monsieur's prog.. nothing happened, except what i said above... running the latest McAfee virus thing that I have on my comp right now... Are there any free firewalls? And if there are, can you point me to the best one?
Finished downloading DoD... complete waste of time... i hate it... its like TFC but with a ping of 600-800... and the minute hl2 comes out i won't be able to play it anymore anyway... <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->
The virus scanner (fully updated) ins;t finding any viruses, even though i am positive there is one. My computer is running significantly slower, it can't even run StarCraft anymore ! one one !
Zero - its not fileplanet, its my connection. I also download at unlikely times, but it takes me forever anyway. I have a dialup to a university which provides a free service slower than a 56k.
After reading this post, i think full firewall security is in order here (/me cranks up his security) I would recomend finding a coverdisk with pc-cillin on it, and sign up for the free trial (30 day i think), It will find and quarantine any files it believes dangerous to your PC's health. Also for your registry problems there are many programs available, do a google search on "regclean"
Also remember to keep your computer updated. Lots of viruses come out like that bsblast worm thing, and you dont want this whole ordeal to happen again. Updates are your friend, no matter how annoying they are.
Yeah... I still have 3 scvhost.exe's. I know you guys say it's fine, but as long as this computer has existed, it has only run two. The day i connected and recieved the msblast.exe virus, which has long since dissappeared (note: i said dissappeared. it could very well still be here), there have been 3 svchost's. I cannot register in the DoD forums, no idea why... And i swear my computer is running slower.
I still think there is something... any advice would be helpful... including but not limited to freeware virus scanners
In case you were going to ask, i frequently update my virus scanner (McAfee)
No... You guys don't get it. It's not that there are 3 svchost.exe's. I'm FINE with that. Seriously. Fine. It's just that as long as this computer has existed, there were only 2. I don't mind the number of svchost.exe's. I do mind that the number of scvhost.exe's have changed. Get it? Yes? No?
And... Since I am usually playing halflife while i'm on te internet, and since i need every resource i can get, i don't run a firewall.
So I'm trying to get my comp to the way it used to be. Why IS there another swvchost.exe ?
<!--QuoteBegin--Caiman+Aug 18 2003, 07:27 PM--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Caiman @ Aug 18 2003, 07:27 PM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> So I'm trying to get my comp to the way it used to be. The number of svchosts runtimes you have loaded depends entirely on you and the software you installed. If you really want to see what your OS is using it for, go grab process explorer from sysinternals.com.
This has become O/T chat at this point though and has nothing to do with people helping you with your issue (you're welcome btw, from all of us that did). If you have another issue, open a new thread.

It scans your computer for viruses from the internet.. It would tell you if you had more then one virus.

Wrongly configured firewall may be preventing you from registering in those forums, try to disable it when you try to register, then enable it again.
