I'm Not New But Thought I'd Ask-See Pic
Straight to the point on this one:
Didn't "search" sorry! So I don't know if this has been posted already.
I'm kinda keen to get to bed.
My question is:
Is there some sort of error in the cl_autohelp 1.0 help for "LEAP" ?
The description tells us that LEAP does a whooping "4" damage.
Is this correct? Surely it's "40" ?

Oops, leap's not even in there. Sorry
but i hit the head so i dunno
on the other hand skulks do have rather large claws, I still think 4 sounds pretty low, perhaps its only 4 to prevent people from only leaping?, its not easy to hit while leaping so I dont know why they would make damage so low.. probably prevention who knows
I know because I was screwwing around in a game a while back... basically the marines had TF'ed the base to all hell (turrets EVERYWHERE) and the Aliens were constantly pounding on us. So I decided to make a little game of trying to see how far out of the marine base I could run without being spored/spiked/gored/devoured or otherwise brutally killed. A couple aliens caught onto this and thought it was hillarious, so whenever they saw me run out of the base with a knife, they let me run, shouting encouragement at me . Anyways, me (and another guy who caught on and did the same) broke out of the marine base and went and hid in a vent with two "friendly" skulks. They climbed us up to a safe spot in the roof where we could see aliens run past, and generally mess about.
ANYWAYS. Point of the story is, I let two different skulks try repeatedly to leap attack me from minimal range. I was standing perfectly still, so the challange factor was zero, but every single time they did four damage. Four four four. (Which is actually like 2 health or something stupid after armour ). We found it quite amusing that Parasite did MORE damage than leap.

Go figure.

I assure you such things did happen. It was a big problem in 1.04, but stated as fixed in 2.0.
In 1.04, IIRC, you could leap kill an RT in two leaps if you had the framerates for it. It was simply nuts.
1. Run up to him and bite *Very risky*
2. Close the distance and quickly damage with leap *Less risky, but weaker*
I'd go for 2,leap is simply a killing machie in vents, but in open areas you are going to have very hard problems with leap, like sticking to your target for instance.
Leap does 4 damage per tick and sticking to marine during the whole duration of the leap will hurt him a whole lot.
But then you could just use it for quick propulsion for a quick bite.

No locational damage in NS, so don't bother going for the head.
He says it does 25x4(that is, 100) damage with a single leap. In 1.04, it could be stuff like 100x4, if you had high framerates... woo. And also, I heard the other night that if you switched to bite during the leap it did BITEx100 or whatever. That's mad damage.
Incase you were wondering "why didn't I get more leap kills then, I always switch to bite in mid-air", it's because it showed up like a bite-kill because bite was currently selected- same as Onos killing with primal scream(ie charge)
btw I miss leaping heavies, at 2 hives especially with web support it was easily the most effective way to kill them
