<div class="IPBDescription">Marines... darwin here...</div> Hi, I'd just like to tell you a little something about playing on this map. You see, you're playing this game called 'Natural Selection'. Meaning that only the strong survive. Frankly, I'm a little shocked at how some of you even manage to get dressed in the morning without breaking an arm.

Okay, I've just got to help evolution along here and tell you guys a couple of things about this map. First is the 'Equilibrium' hive. It's a tasty nugget, very close to the marine spawn with 2 res nodes on the way (Meaning you can capture 4 total and lock down a hive). Well, let me tell you something. There's this little-known place in that room. It just happens to be situated above that window that peers into the room. Now, I was running through some tests and I was shocked at how easilly I creamed you guys. Repeatedly. You never learned!

See, the first thing I did was wait until we had two hives up. I think even one hive would work, but with two hives, you're much more efficient. Now you're going to want defense and momvent chambers as well, which isn't hard to get.

So you guys are dicking around in there with your fancy gadgets, and I haul-**** out of a vent, across the room, and onto that shelf. I go gorge and promptly pack two defense chambers in the corners. Then I make a line of 3 or 4 offense chambers that look right out into the hive room. I heal them as they build, and eventually they're finished. I then drop a couple of movement chambers and begin bilebombing like there's no tomorrow. Hell, you guys even had SIEGES up in there and I wasted the Turret Factory in literally seconds. I must've blown through about 2 dozen turrets, a couple sieges, a phase gate, and other goodies, probably totalling around 400 resources.

So in case you haven't noticed, the idea is: STOP GOING TO EQUILIBRIUM HIVE, you WILL get your **** kicked!

So my second thing... yeah, your comm chair is kind of in this little pit. Are we loosing? We just rush that stupid-**** pit and usually win by taking out the comm chair. Let me tell you, as soon as you can, drop a second comm chair AWAY from the pit, because that thing will be going down. Furhermore, try keeping a few marines on guard around the base, because as an onos, I can just lumber my way past your turret farms and hop in the pit, totally protected, and attack at will.

Just some pointers here.

I don't like that map. Equilibrium is an evil [explicitive] to capture as either team. Marines have it hard as per say and the near by huge vent that nobody can reach into if there is a lerk sporing/bile bombing.

Also, the siege room just struck me as...odd. I mean, why is there a siege room in that hive and that hive in particular? It just seems odd and unfair to aliens.

ns_lost needs some more balancing, ja.

Ns_lost needs fixing so you don't get.....lost......even with a map.

    I guess that's why it's called ns_lost....

Every game I play on that usually ends one of two ways: The marines get slam-dunked because they took equilibrium, or we're loosing, and we pound the CC to death and they all quit.

The 1.04 Lost was amazing, the new one isn't nearly as good.

I loathe NS lost now. I used to love it in 1.04 but the changes made to the map, although subtle, ruined it imo. Its still a great map with great visuals, I just dont think it flows as well any more. Eclipse is still my favorite, with veil as a close second. I guess Im just a sucker for the simpler maps.

omg I LOVE equiliberium, it is SO much fun to siege that hive, seriously, NS_Lost is a WONDERFUL map and I congraulate Greedo for making one the best maps eva!

Yea, I don't know how people can complain about the flow. Equillibrium used to be a dead end unless you were a skulk or a jetpack. In my opinion it is a vast improvement in playability (except for marine start, that seems a bit uninspired, possibly rushed). Yea, marine start could use a few tweaks, other than that I say lost is one of the better maps.

Despite the siege-room not being red, I guess that's what it's meant to be : Seems like every map needs a red-room these days, in one form or another...
But I can't quite follow monkeybonks 'evolutionary advice' - "don't get the hive 'cause you'll have your **** kicked when I play against imcompetent players" sounds more like wishful thinking. And why waste 25 res on a decoy-cc ? Like the aliens will 'forget' about the one in the pit ?

Well, the only complaint I have is the marine CC pit... it's very Onos Friendly... Just jump down there, and marines cannot kill you.... but the co chair dies. Now, if that pit had a roof over it, and the only was is was via that ramp... I think it would make all the difference in the world.

Ns_lost certainly lives up to its name. I can't recall a single game where marines didn't go out the wrong door at marine start at least once. And I don't mean one or two people, I mean an entire squad of marines would make it to one of the res nodes (forgot the name), and suddenly realize that they were all going the wrong way. This is mostly due to the way the minimap makes those long vents look like hallways. And something about the fact that I have to WELD into the first res tower doesn't make sense to me.

lost isn't too popular around the servers I play, probably due to the fact that it's a VERY confusing map and hard to get used to. I've memorized nearly all the names of res points in the other 2.0 maps, but somehow ns_lost just escapes me.

I love ns_lost. At first, I was quite confused by it, but after playing it several times I realized that it was perhaps the most complex and open to strategical moves out of all the ns maps.

My only problem is people who build the IP's down in the pit. They should NEVER be built in the pit.

    Ever.

    EVER.

The marine spawn kind of canceles out the cc position. It's so open if you have guards + turrets anything that survives going to the pit will be easy to take down.
  • NecrosisNecrosis The Loquacious Sage Join Date: 2003-08-03 Member: 18828Members, Constellation
Marine spawn is horribly open in Lost. You need to seriously consider a relocate or tf like a madman.

Skulks alone can take down the CC by hopping the RT and running behind the chair. He waits till you leave, then munch munch munch.

The siege room is equally evil for aliens, since marines can jp into it and build a PG. GL spam stops anyone getting up there and a siege puts paid to any idea of third hive.

Its definitely a thinker's map. Sadly marines aren't up to the challenge and Lost is either taken out of mapcycle, F4ed, or voted over.
