<span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'><b>Skulk:</b></span>
The Skulk is basically a melee life form meaning you have to be close enough for the marine to hug you to hit them. The Skulk’s special ability is its “Wall Climb”. You can Climb walls, hang from ceilings, etc. If you fall from great heights, you won't take damage.
The four weapons the Skulk has are 1. Bite 2. Parasite 3. Leap 4. Xenocide.

<b>Bite:</b>
The one attack that you always have and will use the most is this.
You use it how you think you would use it you bite them.
It takes 2 bites to kill a un-upgraded (vanilla) marine
2-3 for armor 2
3-4 for armor 3
A lot for Heavy Armor (HA)

<b>Parasite:</b>
Parasite is the most under used and under rated “weapon” in the game but it is best for gathering intelligence. This is the only ranged “attack” the Skulk has. Any marine or structure parasited (para, pared) will show up on your entire team’s “Hive Sight”. Parasite marine outposts and parasite marines to help your team. Note: When parasiting outposts don’t parasite every thing just 3 or so structures so it won’t clutter people’s screens. In 2.01b and above servers, Parasite can switch some buttons on and off again.
Parasite does do some damage (dmg) to marines but not a lot.

<b>Leap:</b>
Leap is more of a movement method then an attack. Leap makes you leap forward.<span style='color:red'> Leap does 40 damage per second.</span>

<b>Xenocide:</b>
Xenocide is an ultimate marine killer. When you use it you will scream and kill yourself. In return you will do lots of damage to marines near you and the area damage gets less and less the further they are from you.
On vanilla marines you will kill the one that you are sitting on but if they are weakened you can get multiple kills.

<span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'><b>The Egg</b></span>
When evolving traits or into different lifeforms you turn into an egg. It can't move and has 200 health and 100 armor. 1 clip of lmg ammo and 1 clip of pistol ammo can kill you so don't evolve in a hostile enviroment.

<span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'><b>Gorge:</b></span>
Gorge cost 10 resources (res, rp) to evolve (gestate) to from any Kharaa life form. This is the builder of the Kharaa species. In exchange for resources, he can put up different buildings that help the Kharaa.
The four weapons are 1. Spit 2. Heal Spray 3. Bile Bomb 4. Web.

<b>Spit:</b>
The gorge can shoot little bits of acid that hurts the marines and their buildings.

<b>Heal Spray:</b>
“Attacking” with this will heal other Kharaa and buildings and hurt marines and does a little damage to buildings. If your friends are attacking near you this is the weapon you should use because it heals your friends and hurts the enemy at the same time.

<b>Bile Bomb:</b>
This <b>DOES NOT HURT MARINES AN ANY WAY</b>. Way too many people attack marines with it. Bile Bomb is ONLY good for taking out marine buildings (and mines) and it is VERY good at it. It flies in an arc so you can hide and lob it over things. This "bomb" does splash damage meaning it does a lot of damage where it hits and weaker damage further from the point of impact.

<b>Web:</b>
Web, if a marine touches it, makes it so they can’t move fast and they can’t shoot for a while. Marines will move slower if they have more webs on them. The max webs a marine can have on him at one time is 6 webs. The way to use this is to shoot at the wall or ground and then shoot to another place farther away then if you did it right a tiny white band will appear. That is the web. Grenades and welders(maybe mines) can destroy webs.

<b>Building buildings:</b>
As the only one that can build this is the gorge’s responsibility. Gorges can make the building build faster by holding the use key down (Default is e) on the building. Upgrade chambers have level 1, 2, and 3 if you have 1 chamber its level 1, 2 level 2, 3 or more level 3. Only 1 type of chamber can be built per hive.

<b>Offence Chamber:</b>
This costs 10 resources to build and it attacks marines that it can see in it’s range. It is less accurate against fast-moving targets (jetpackers) and does half damage to heavy armor.

<b>Defense Chamber (def):</b>
This is one of three upgrade chambers and they all cost 10 resources. It heals friendly aliens and buildings near it. It also provides 3 upgrades to the Kharaa.
<b>Carapace:</b>
This gives you extra armor edit: moving slower has been taken out or reduced.
<b>Regeneration (regen):</b>
This heals you so much health and armor per pulse(It heals health first then armor).
<b>Redemption (redem):</b>
Redemption will teleport you back to the hive if you have low health. Be warned it works in pulses. It will check your health every so often and if your health is low enough it teleports you to the hive. Iit is possible to die if you have this upgrade if you take fatal damage between the pulses.

<b>Movement Chamber (mov):</b>
Movement chambers are another upgrade chamber. Movement chambers also give energy to nearby Kharaa so PLEASE build these near the marine base. Also if you “use” it you will teleport to the farthest hive you own or a hive built/building that’s under attack. Note in 2.01c servers hitting your use key to tele is gone.
<b>Adrenaline:</b>
This makes your energy come back faster than normal.
<b>Celerity:</b>
This makes you move faster. <span style='color:red'> Each level of celerity now increases speed by 25</span>
<b>Silence:</b>
This makes you silent.

<b>Sensory Chambers (sens, sense):</b>
This is another upgrade chamber. It cloaks buildings and Kharaa nearby provided they aren’t attacked or they attack.
<b>Cloaking:</b>
<span style='color:red'>Cloak fades in and makes no sound. You stay cloaked if you walk(shift is default).</span>
<b>Scent of Fear:</b>
This allows you to see marines around you through walls and things.
<b>Pheromones:</b>
This leaves little yellow clouds behind the marines for a while so you can track them.

<b>Resource Towers:</b>
You build these on resource nodes. They cost 15 resources and the more your team has the faster you get resources.

<b>The Hive:</b>
<span style='color:red'>Costs 40 resources.</span>
The Hive provides abilities to the Kharaa. One Hive you get the first two attacks. Second hive you get the third attack. Third Hive you get the fourth attack. Also the more hives you have more people can respawn at the same time. Hives also heal you. <span style='color:red'>You can also heal building hives.</span>

<span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'><b>Lerk:</b></span>
Lerk is a support class unit that can fly and costs 30 resources to evolve. It cost energy to flap your wings but not a lot. You use your jump key to flap once and if you hold it down you glide. If you fall from great heights you won't take damage.
The attacks are 1. Spikes 2. Spores 3. Umbra 4. Primal Scream

<b>Spikes:</b>
Spikes are a long range insta-hit weapon.

<b>Spores:</b>
Spores are a cloud of green gas that flies from you and hurt light armors. <b>THEY DO NOT HURT HEAVY ARMORS OR GO THROUGH WALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!</b>

<b>Umbra:</b>
Umbra is a cloud of yellow gas that flies from you. <span style='color:red'>Umbra blocks 2 out of 3 bullets.</span> One thing about umbra: It only blocks the shots when you (or other aliens) are in the cloud. It doesn't block bullets when the cloud is between you and the marine. Also grenades, mines, knifes, and welders are not blocked.


<b>Primal Scream:</b>
You let out a large scream that players nearby will echo giving everyone faster attacks and other boosts. <b>PLEASE USE THIS!!!</b>

<span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'><b>Fade:</b></span>
Fade is not a tank. He is some what like a soldier. He has ok attacks and health but can be killed quickly if used like a tank. He can also endure long falls without taking damage.
The attacks are 1. Swipe 2. Blink 3. Metabolize 4. Acid Rocket

<b>Swipe:</b>
Swipe is a melee attack that takes a good chunk of the marine's health away. 2 swipes kill a normal marine.

<b>Blink:</b>
Blink is movement ability. Holding down attack it will move you forward very quickly until you run out of energy. This is very useful in vents as it cuts down on travel time dramatically.

<b>Metabolize:</b>
When you use this it converts energy in to health and armor. It is helpful when you can’t get to a healing spot.

<b>Acid Rocket:</b>
You shoot a rocket that damages the enemy and it does splash damage like the bile bomb. It also blows mines up sometimes.

<span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'><b>Onos:</b></span>
The Onos is a tank. A lot of health combined with deadly attacks makes it worth the 100 resources it costs.
The attacks are 1. Gore 2. Devour 3. Stomp 4. Charge

<b>Gore:</b>
A melee attack that has a longer range then you think it does. It also does lots of damage, and double damage to structures.

<b>Devour:</b>
Devour makes it so you eat a marine. You move slower, but you get health and can take out those evil HA easily. Aiming is odd you have to be close and looking somewhat farther down then you would think. <span style='color:red'>If you redem the person you were eating drops out of your stomach.</span>

<b>Stomp:</b>
Stomp stuns people that aren’t flying in a jetpack. They can’t move at all or shoot. About stomp: It stuns any marine on the same elevation level as you, it will also stun people that try to jump it at you level. I.E. if you try to stomp a marine sitting on a railing 1 ft above the ground, it will fail, unless you are on the railing too.

<b>Charge:</b>
Charge one click of the attack button and you move faster and deal damage to any thing you hit until no energy is left. If you have 2 movement chambers nearby you have an infinite charge because you never run out of energy. <span style='color:red'>Charge does 160 damage per second</span>

    This article could be a definitive guid to aliens but it needs adjusting to A few minor things..

    Ok Spit:
    Spit is the best damaging attack that the gorge has. If you hit a vanilla marine with every shot it takes a full energy bar to kill him.

    This isn't phrased vey well.

    Why not get specific about how much damage spit does? ( I don't know off the top of my head) and explain what the attack is. "Gobules of acidic spit are launched across the room damaging anything they come in contact with" something like that..

    And for Health Spray, you may want to mention it does no damage to structures.. (that's right isn't it?)

    "Multiple webs stack but to a limit." what's the limit? Include that.

    "It is possible to kill people with that have this upgrade." talking about redemption..

    Since you are writing this from the Alien perspective.
    Perhaps "Though it might seem impossible to die (you will be whisked away when your health gets low) It does work in pulses so you can be killed"
    Something more like that?

    Doesn't sense of fear only work on wounded marines?? Or did that change in 2.0?

    One thing about umbra: It only blocks the shots when you (or other aliens) are in the cloud. It doesn't block bullets when the cloud is between you and the marine.

    Umbra has no effect on grens and mines.
    Bilebomb and acid rocket blow up mines.
    Webs are destroyed by grens.
    Heal Spray has no effect on enemy buildings.
    Skulk and lerk dont take fall damage.
    Stomp doesnt affect flying jetpackers but will freeze them when they are touching the ground.
    Gas does not go through walls like everybody thinks.
    Acid rocket does splash damage as well as Bile bomb.

    Perhaps u mite wanna mention the egg and how u can redeem one etc i dunno mite not be useful who knows.

    It changed, it will show the marines whether they are hurt or not. Not sure if it's a bug though.

    I think scent of fear is too powerful if it is for all marines. That way it totally beats Pharamones. But we are not talking about that, so forget it.

    However, 'Swipe does a fair amount of damage.' Excuse me? Understatement of the week. 2 swips nails a marine. Heavies take longer, but you still stand a chance, esp. with Carapace. That's the other thing. You did not mention which aliens benifit from which upgrades.

    So, (In format Alien, Def/Sens/Mov. That is the order you will probably get them. There are other topics argueing about this, so don't post here on the order.)

    Skulk: Redemp OR regen, SoF, Silence
    Gorge: Redemp, Cloak, Adrenaline OR Silence*
    Lerk: Regen, SoF, Adrenaline
    Fade: Carapace OR Redemp, SoF OR cloak, Adrenaline
    Onos: Anything. You'll kill. (Redemp, SoF, Adrenaline)

    *If you intend to rush for a hive, you would use Clerity. However Cloak is rendered useless with this.

    These are not set in tablets of stone. The only one that is CERTAIN is the Lerk. Carapace is too little an improvement, and redemp proably isn't worth it for how the Lerk is used. SoF speaks for itself. Adrenaline to keep energy up after flight.

    I like to let people think of what to upgrade with on their own. If they can take the entire team with Pheromones only, let them. We need new strats in the world.     I do believe that heal spray does not affect enemy structures. If you wish to try, try on lan and try heal spraying a marine structure. Have

    mp_drawdamage 1

    on to see if it does hurt the structure.

    IMHO redemption is far more effective. Regeneration is too slow. If you are going to get hit by a LMG marine, you'll be healed by a gorge before you die. If a HMG attacks you, regen will be worthless.
    Carapace is the best of the 3. The armour bonus is huge. You could storm the marine base and get at least 2 marines (whilst being attacked by turrets,) with carapace. You'd be dead before you reached the entrance if you had regen.

    However, a lone rambo fade would probably do better with regen. There are always two sides to the arguement.

    redemption sucks, it never works the way you want it to work. either it kicks in too early as in you still have 100hp or it kicks in too late and you die.

    Regen/cara fade infinatly more useful. Most people who get redemp just think that "oh now i am invulnerable" but your not. combined fire from LMGs can toast you, and if you add in shotguns then you will rarely make it out alive.

    Onos too, get regen, when you are onos it regenerates 50HP every 2 seconds. Redemption on onos means that you either die or redeem at 300HP.

    why would you want a redemp skulk. did you know that the skulk was free? also that fact that you will probably get redeemed every 20times you try? Just get cara/regen. Silence or celerity is also good.

    Gorge with celerity is amazing! if we get movement first thats the one i get. You can outrun marines and most of them are unable to kit you properly if you strafe run etc. Remember that aliens run backwards just as fast as forwards. btw regen/cara is perfectly feasable. Cara for when you are in a gorge gang, and regen/redemp for when you are hunting for res.

    Lerk: I totally agree with you.

    Fade: See above and silence is surprisingly good, although adren is probably the best. (hehe unlimited blinking)

    Onos: The only movement upgrade onos should get is CELERITY. now think about this, without celerity all LA mrines can run away just as fast, that means they have much more time to gun you down. (now with the onos surprise ambushes are much harder to attain)
    As said above regen as onos kicks ****, esp with RC2 where turrets do half dmg, you wouldn't see your health go down.

    On a side note, carapace will give you about 1.4 times the lifespan of un-carapaced alien.

    I remember i was a skulk with 5 hp left and i jumped off a elevator thingy when the elevator was down (i was up) and i died and im like WTH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lerks r the only 1s who dont take fall dmg.

    What would be cool is if the Forum Admin here would sticky this guide to the top of the Forum.

    Then the Newbies would atleast have somewhere to start, since the main page guide is outdated.
