<div class="IPBDescription">with a little skulk inside</div> Basically, the hive is just like the normal hive, but the orange thing is transparent/semi-transparemt. You can see a skulk embryo inside the hive, possibly a few embryos.
Another idea:
There are a few "windows" in the orange thing, each window reveals an embryo during a different stage of its growth. When a skulk spawns, his cell gets uccupied by the younger skulk, that skulk's cell is occupied by the younger and so on..

    The second suggestion cant be realized because there is no way to let the hive change its look according to respawn times.
    €: Oy vey, it could be done... but... no. After a few cycles the emryo chambers would have to be resetted... right.

    I like the first idea, though.

    problems with that:

    - idle animations are too short and random to show embryo developement.
    - birth animation is damn short to pull out something from its center.
    - you can not just make a "window" without a "window frame" because you see no backfaces of models. You need to create a complete hollowed inside with some windows facing outside AND inside, to tee the windows backface trough the hive.
    - The hive already has damn high polygon count for poor HL engine and a main fighting area. Actually its an eye candy waste of epoly. might try it with my lowpoly hive 30% smaller but looking the same.

    -So you'll just see the skulk get sucked out of sight.
    -You hack off the orange thing, put a low-poly hole where the orange thing should be, stick the skulk inside, maybe with some blood vessels that connect him, add a watery look and a transparent window. You don't have to make the whole thing hollow
    -Some people don't mind high poly-counts.

    erm... hi poly count, loads of ppl have already stated that the engine can take lots more than u think. 16,000 poly gun model for cs, 5000 poly player model x 16 ppl in the ready room.... u get the picture

    the engine can handel it, its just not very good at it, so unless u have a very good vid card you will get a big reduction in frame rate.
