Valve Acknowledges Ns

just read an interview of Doug Lombardi by PC Zone.

"Game development happens in front of your computer, busting your arse, and so... We try to help those guys get better because we probably want to hire them at some point. And it also helps extend the viability of the product. Natural Selection, Day of Defeat and Counter-Strike - they helped sell Half-Life. "

looks like they are gonna want to help the NS team get NS working in HL2.

i just hope they don't make the gun aim system like in DOD and CS where you cannot pull off amazing feats of markmanship by practicing.

It's news to me. Just don't assume they're going to retail just because there's a little blurb in an interview. If retail is the case, I'll cross my fingers...but not expect much.

It's old news, but IIRC, it got locked because of flaming. I'll just sum up:

It would be silly for Flayra to refuse a reasonable offer from valve to pay him. By reasonable I mean allowing him to retain his creative ideals for NS, not just the $. The man's gotta eat, you know.

As for DoD, valve didn't just "take over." The old DoD developers still had a large say in how it turned out, so the blame for anything you don't like can't be placed solely on valve.
