<div class="IPBDescription">v. annoying</div> I keep randomly dropping from servers. I play then all of a sudden -> console screen.
It's very annoying especially as alien, but also as marine.
Anyone else have this problem, from in-game chat a few people do. Also the changelog that allows the keeping of res if you drop suggests many people do.
Also I find I now random drop from other games but didn't before...

If you can come up with a specific time it's happened on our server, let us konw and we can have a look through the logs.

Sorry to get off topic, but do you play on a server with reserved slots for admins? Because i'm not sure if all servers are configured to tell you if you have been dropped due to that reason or not.
Perhaps.
aren't like 32 of your posts this exact same statement? >________<
Oh well, not like i'm contributing to the discussion..
ummmm: maybe you are getting reserve slot kicked? @_@
The easiest way to check for packet loss on a windoze system is to run "cmd" and then type "ping www.google.com -n 100" in the console. If lots of packets don't get through, or some are really slow, this is likely the underlying issue.
This should probably be in tech support tho.
Most common cause of this is there is room for a reserved slot, and they let you connect, realize you don't have one, and then let you sit in the console.
Thought about it...
But was more interested if other people get a similar problem, from what I'd seen quite a few do. In most games I see 'so-and-so has left the game' -> 'so-and-so joined the game'. I doubt they'd be re-trying for scores...
The details of my problems are:
no error msg, I have been kicked for reserved slots before and get some sort of msg.
I get the same problem with CD and VAC as the problem has transferred to Dod, for which I have a clan and have a reserved slot. I still random drop.
I remain on the server through lag spikes so I don't think it's that.

i posted it exactly 2 times
Anyway,, what I do is when it stops connecting:
type:
'developer 255'
'retry'
Always seems to work! (Don't know why?)
I think it may be something to do with the fact the first time you connect, yuor computer has to precache all the models + sprites (this takes some time), but the server computer thinks your not responding...
(or sumfin :$)
- Is it really so random? Can you remember if each time you drop, it's when you were using your mic? It's not a consistent thing, but it does contribute to it.
- Are you using a router or to be more specific a Linksys router?
The connection between the two is what I found very odd, but I had unplugged myself from the router and connected back into the modem directly and the problem has been solved. I got this information from this thread and there was only some speculation and small ideas to solve it, but my problem did have something to do with the router and it's DMZ setting. I'm sure there is some tweak to it to make it work with the router, but I haven't bothered with it yet.

Hope this helps.
