Does anyone know how to change their half-life cdkey w/out reinstalling? I just bought another copy of half-life so that my brother and I can play together on the same server w/out cdkey errors, however, I am haveing some trouble finding the cdkey file so I can just manualy change it to the new one.

Current_User > Software > Valve > Half Life > Settings > Then just modify the string that says "Key"
Or if retail
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\counterstrike\settings
Both CDkeys are stored under a variable called Key

Er.. can you be a little more specific... regedit? Whats that? Get into my registry? Do you mean like just opening the folders to get to halflife or is this like accessing the halflife program itself?

Click Start.
Click Run.
Type "regedit" .
Ugh, pressing one button accidentally can make your computer not boot normally..
I'm not kidding
A reinstall would be alot easier..
no registry editing if you dunno what you are doing
I just didn't know what regedit was... after I was told how to open it, it was easy enough to both figure out and operate. Once again thx for the help.

But they know what they're doing. Trust me, this works.

Alright, looks like maredText has solved his problem by using the registry, and anyone who's too scared to touch the registry now knows of a program that'll do it for them. We're done here. I'm *locking* to prevent piracy talk (probably doesn't need locking as I don't see why someone would be foolish enough to talk about it here, but better safe than sorry.)
