Many thanks to the boys in Off-Topic for starting <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=10&t=45860&st=0' target='_blank'>this thread</a>, which resulted in the following "screenshots."
To do screenshots like this yourself:
1) get in position
2) type "cam_idealyaw 3" in your console
3) take a screenshot
4) type "cam_idealyaw -3" in your console
5) take another screenshot
<i>Note: I'm actually not sure if this is the correct command for this. /: Going to have to look into it. You can get the same effect by focusing on something, taking a screenshot, sidestepping (VERY small sidestep), re-focusing on the same point, and taking a second screenshot.</i>
Open the two in Photoshop or another program, correct the gamma, reduce them to 320x240 (a nice small size to avoid eyestrain), and align them next to each other. If the image seems to pop out instead of in, flip-flop the images and try again. A caveat, though - this effect does *not* do well with motion - e.g water, animated models, or particle effects. You can see why in the pic of Refinery (the sparks coming from the furnace).
To see these in 3D, cross your eyes till the images overlap in the middle. Focus for a bit, and it'll pop into 3D.
And now, the shots... first, three of Bast.

Maybe I have sensitive eyes or SOMETHING.
/me Cannot keep eyes open on a computer screen long enough for images to become 3D.
Its none the less cool.
I think I saw one.

Update:
/Me turns lights on and tries it.
Okay this is awsome it works <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Maybe I need some <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'><!--endemo-->
Anyway, my main point in doing this is that "screenshots" look freakin awesome in 3D. (:
Problem is that my left eye tends to see everything with a tilt of 35°, so my brain got quite proficient at blocking those little errors out. I can not get this to work -_-
Argh, I can't cross my eyes and focus on the image at the same time <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Try values larger than -3 +3.
Can a script make 2 pictures close enough to catch animation.
And if I want, I play it with 3d glasses, but my monitor is not that good in big brightness contrasts in 3d.
Nice pics btw, but what about making them uber 3D? Like they were a little model version of the real map and you are looking at them from real close? This would be even more amazing :]
*hurt*
/edit
the pictures overlap a little bit in the middle, but thats all, i have a nice headache, thank you coil <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->
I'm usually good with these kind of things
Indeed
Also try to make slightly larger version of the landing pad,so I can look at it in fake 3-d all day ^^
And now.....a tutorial for those who can't cross their eyes....
HOT TO : Cross your eyes in a few simple steps
Tools needed :
- Your eyes,duh
- Finger,but a pencil,pen or any thin object will suffice
- Painkiller (yes it will hurt your eyes)
1. Put your finger or whatever you're going to use directly in front of your face, about 20cm away.Make sure it is parallel to your nose (Unless by some freak incident,your nose bends towards the side <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> )
2. Focus on it with your eyes.
3. Slowly move towards your eyes until your eyes start to feel painful,in which case you must STOP!
4. If you experience sharp pain, take painkillers,and if that doesn't work,call someone, you could've stretched an eye muscle too much :\
that amazing!! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
post some more, i cant be bothered doing it myself
oh and i do but it worked just fine for me <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
However after doing it I found my eyes couldn't focus for a minute or so, so I don't think I'll be trying it again...
No renegade pics for me, then.
OMG!
THIS WORKS GREAT WITH 3D GLASSES!
If you try to view those images "in 3-d" all you get is a flat plane sticking out of the monitor covered with a screenshot <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->.
Here is an overlay of the bast screenshot, right screen and left screen with 50% transluceny on the overlayed, you will see that they are either identical or at least differ extremly little. So odd no one has noticed <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->.
Also the right image was slightly brighter than the left in this case, did you forget to merge the layers in photoshop before toying with the color balance/levels?
edit: or maybe people are just too polite to say anything? Not me though I r teh baztard, I am the one who takes that last liquorice allsort that everybody else is to polite to eat...
