<div class="IPBDescription">brought to you by coil</div> I've made a tutorial. (:

It's not for coloring. It's not for chibi-ing. It's not for shading. It's not for 3ds max. It may not even be any good; it's my first tutorial, so for all I know I may just sail right over people's heads. ^^

What it *is* is an explanation of how I draw. Most of what I draw comes out of my head, but everything that comes out of my head originates from a very solid grasp of the anatomy of living organisms.

This tutorial will guide you through my drawing process - with a hefty amount of background as well - when I create any vertebrate - human, animal, biped, quadruped, whatever. If it's well-received, I might make a "sequel" going into less "traditional" subjects - dragons, chibis, etc. Who knows?

Let me know what you think.

That's good. It's a start. The coil guide will help you make him look good proportion wise.

GJ coil, I'll print it out when I go to school ( muahaha ! ph45r printer abuse).

[Slightlyofftopic] One of the best books ever written for noob artists ( particularly those who are convinced they "cant draw" ) is "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards.
It's more geared towards drawing what is actually in front of you rather than imaginative work, but it's still good.

Anyone struggling with drawing would do well to check it out.

It's all about practicing and learning to put your views onto paper.

I'm drawing a web comic for me and some of my friends, this just happens to be making fun of my druid and his use of the flame sword spell. So, here's the first frame <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Anyway, this was done in about 30 minutes with a .5 mm mechanical pencil.

    All you have to do is practice! And follow coils guide <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Good to see more how to draw tutorials....

But don't you think we have a bit too many on the net already??There's Polykarbon,Jdillon,Cozypaper....so many sites I've visited with some drawing tutorials....I think I've lost count

BTW,JDillon's drawing tutorials moved to howtodrawmanga.com or whatever its called....

But the one thing that seperates this from others....there's some ti[ps on flesh building, which is indeed,a nice addition....

Great tutorial, I found some very helpful tips there. Good work. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

(and I'll also add, since it is the first time I've seen it, that it is a very nice website too)

Thanks, guys. (: I may have to write another one. I'll look into more unusual body types, using the ovoid-construction in a more flexible way, and/or distorting standard proportions to create unrealistic characters (translation: cartoon/chibi). (:

We'll see what I have time for and what works.

I haven't started to test out the tutorial, but I can't draw, but it does make sense to sketch out the skeletal feature...hmmm very good ideas Coil, I envy you like the way I envy the shape of a bean <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

OK I drew a sort of..um..raptor thingy. Then coloured it cellshade style in photoshop. Considering this was a mere doodle I'm quite impressed <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
