    Exposed screws are a no-no, they catch things and make the gun look unfinished. I like the idea of energy weapons in NS, God knows we need something new...but bullpup energy weapons dont fit well...they just seem so out of place. But thats just me.
    The artwork is good, I liked the effect on the barrel; keep working on it. Also, this is a nice break from the "ergonomic" feel of seburo and such. Overall I like it, theres just a few cosmetic things that irk me.
    Refine and resubmit!! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
    Keep drawing, its looking good. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I liked the semi-industrial look of the exposed screws... maybe in future versions, they will be reduced in number.

    Besides, its hard to catch something on a screw if its an inset and/or rounded-top screw. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
    Thx for the crits! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Well what's important is that the magazine is large, seeing energy weapons with small magazines(maybe they are just mag shaped batteries <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->) looks kind of silly. I actually think what would look more futuristic is a large, top-loaded rectangular shaped magazine(but something that is not super long, just alot larger on the top to bottom angle).

    Oh and that's a damn good drawing! I don't see how exposed screws catch on things, if they are screwed in tight.

    that looks well cool ^_^ make it all really like sloped on the edges in teh model ^_^

    Ok, first we'll look at it realistically...

    Only reason we use bullpup design today is to maximise the barrel length for improved accuracy. Theoretically speaking, energy weapons don't need long barrels, since they are not really solid matter. I could be wrong <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I'm also assuming that this weapon is being fired primarily from the hip, sicne the front grip and the trigger grip are very close together. Kinda be hard to raise that thing to you're shoulder, again, only my opinion.

    Overall, I like the style of it, and, as was said, just needs some cosmetics.

    Alright, you said to leave feedback...but I cant eloquate my words well enough to explain what I mean. I did a simple resketch of your pic. The basics are the same.
    The problem was, when I picked your gun up in my hands (in my head) it neatly sliced all of my fingers off. Your edges are WAY too sharp...no one could hold that gun wihout loss of fingers. I just rounded it out without getting into Seburos territory.
    Oh, and next time you post a gun and ask for feedback...be careful. I might just respond. Just ask Sid. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    While I reckon boozekitty's redraw is pretty darn nice, i still prefer the feel of the original more. I think it'd be nice to have a model that looks like it's been mass produced. the redraw is good, and i wouldn't mind seeing that modeled as well, but the jagged rough look is different enough from what's out there at the moment to catch my attention. Especially with a weathered, used look. chipped paint, scarred metal, and suchlike.

    One thing i've noticed on this board, and not something particularly bad or good, is a tendency to want to make a gun feel good in your virtual hands. I realize it's really an attempt to make the gun look better, but in some cases i reckon i'd rather have a sweet looking gun that's completely impractical. It's the future, and it's a videogame. They don't need to fit the gun to your hands, they just cut off your hands and give you ones that fit the gun.

    Hehe, some interesting crits <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I even like the redraw, but the design has gone from sharp and pointy, to almost a pillow-like shape. Kinda makes me want to fluff it up and sleep on it, maybe more of a blend of the 2 styles would work nicely... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I think the re-draw fits in with NS better (reminds me of the welder.)

    could add efects of water on weapons like time or dust or slash on weapon to aper back from conflict zone, the first draw apear like a prefab but ns style, could better if remove the screws and put a steel texture, the second look like a ns weapon but more perfect.
    all draws is good but the 1 is more easy to model i think?!

    Okay, I added color and scratches for a worn-effect. The color I like but the scratches I'll have to work on. like Bio said...a combo might be the soloution. Someone blend!
  • cariocacarioca Join Date: 2003-09-02 Member: 20511Members
    the scratches is slin out of view of the size of the shapes.
    the scratches or not in this case dont change the efect over the weapon but the colored weapon is good.

    Alright, I think we have a winner. BioHaz redrew the gun based off the changes I made, and I think we have an orgasmicly happy medium. He sent it to me around 1:00 or 2:00 AM, and I think I got it where he wants it. Unless he decides differently, we have his concept completed.
    IMHO this gun kicks major arse, smashing all others released at this point. I love it. (And not just because I contributed). Feedback pls...lets get some voices in here!
    Nice work Bio. Nice work indeed. Thanks for letting me ink/color it.

    Now THAT looks more like a TSA approved weapon. Light Plasma Cannon, perhaps? I'm thinking 'shotgun-like spray/ammo capacity, bright burning death pellets that melt through Kharaa like butter; sizzle and scorch walls and objects they touch.

    Why dont you post the final product in the ns customisation forum so we hear more forum spammers talk about how they creamed their pants?
