Saphire Radeon 9100 125mb Fps Problem

Hey guys....Ive recently had a major disaster with my comp. Anyways the outcome of the this disaster was a new AMD 2200+, Maxtor 80 GIG, Asus A7V8X-X motherboard, and saphire radeon 9100 125mb card.

My problem is I am having horrible frame rates with that new ATI card. During game play, the only time I get decent frame rates (70fps) is when there are other characters around me....say in a room or hallway......but when the a battle occurs.....my frame rate drops to like 10-20fps!!!!!!

This is pretty much a new computer with a fresh new install of Windows XP pro, lastest catalyst drivers (3.7), and NS2.0. Also Ive even installed a refresh rate fix for my ATI card too. In my display settings, I have it on performance with fast write enabled too (I've tried disabling fast write also).
Also if your wondering if Ive tried turning different options off/on....i have tried that too.

oh btw....my old system spec was AMD thunderbird 1.2ghz, 40 gig, geforce4 440MX 64mb, ECS k7s6a, 512DDR ram

    almost forgot...on my old geforce card, my frame rates never ever dropped below 75fps in any situation.

    (you never mentioned how much RAM u have now, lets assume its 512+)
    -update ur direct x? (should be 9.1b or 9.0b)
    -Start using OPENGL? (opengl has better frame rates than direct x(at least for half life based games)
    -disable V sync? (v sync can REALLY mess up ur fps, disabling it is best)
    -maybe u need to edit some config in ur BIOS? like change the way the motherboard handles the vid card
    ------try those, if non help, then its ur VID card, just wait for the next set of drivers, and it should get fixed.
    "I" think its probably your vid card drivers most likely.

    In my new system im running i stick of Micron 512DDR ram
    DirectX9.0b - Yes
    Vsync off - yes
    running NS in openGL - yes
    Bios settings - dont know what I should be looking for.... Ive looked and everything seem to be correct

    Ive checked under dxdiag and under display tab, it shows "AGP texture Acceleration: Not Available" and the option to Enable/Disable is greyed.
    I assume this may be the problem causing my low FPS??? How am I to activate that option?? My card is an AGP card that for sure.

    Have you tried updating the drivers for your card? And are you sure the cards drivers are installed correctly if you have?

    Yes. Your motherboard is the dammed one. Nextime make sure your mobo has agp support. either that your radeon cannot support agp. Unlikely though. I myself NEVER BUY POWERED BY ATI. I buy BUILT by ATI. ATI has the fastest cards on the market to date.

    Yes I do have the lastest Driver updates for my Vid card (catalyst 3.7) and they installed correctly. They were the one of the first things installed on my new system after Windows XP pro

    My Mobo does support APG. Its a Asus A7V8X-X mobo. It will support up to 8X AGP.

    As for buying a genuine ATI card in the future.....Ill keep that in mind next time. But for now I really want to get this dam issue solved if possible cause playing NS at 20fps isnt worth it.

    Oh BTW....Ive also update my Via 4in1 drivers too.

    now its time to play with your bios <EG>

    ok, get into your bios (normaly hit like del or something at the boot)
    in there you just wana look around till you find anything with AGP in the name, then enable it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Sorry didnt spot this post until I made my own - I have the same problem but with ATI 9800 pro - further details can be found in my post <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=18&t=47367' target='_blank'>Link Here</a>. One bios problem I have found is that AGP fast writes with an abit kt7a makes a horrible unstable mess of a system - therefore the advice about enabling everything with AGP in it is not good !

    Was the problem ever identified / solved ?
