Why would I want to pay money for an Obs, Upgrade Phase tech, drop at least two phases - use ALL of that res - on something the aliens can use just as easily as my team with devestating results. With Phase Tech I think it was very logical to ditch aliens being allowed to use the phases.
Hehe, was always fun destroying a Marine outpost with an Onos or two, maybe a Fade, and the Gorge, then all of them jumping to the center of Marine HQ with the PG. I also miss the jetpacks. They were just SO much fun.
Anyone remember pre 1.04, when marines could FF their own buildings? Would suck majorly when you would be winning(a rarity back in those days when strategies were undeveloped) and some llama comes on marines and blows all your stuff up and you can't do anything about it unless admin is on, and even then if he's on alien, he conveniently takes his time to deal with the offender. <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

sometimes owned 10 players in a row as lonely skulk in marine spawn, most of them multiple times with just regen and celerity, running around till theyre out of ammo, confusing that 3 turtrets, then bite, continue till they are 4 marines at once which leaves no space to run around.
Gorging used to be a little like being a 'commander-lite' you had to do important stuff and if you did something really cunning people would say 'GG gorge' now that never happens....

Still, I like the new Lerk even better. He fills a bunch of holes in the alien arsenal.
Having aliens go back through PGs, on the other hand, doesn't seem to do much. I really liked it the old way. They should have left it that way, except that <i>recycling</i> a PG would instantly disable it for alien use (but marines could still use it to get to their destination, at least if that's the way it is now).
This would let a fast commander instantly disable a PG that became a liability, while still letting the aliens pull off some spectacular sneak attacks.
Anything that's a "double-edged sword" in a game is usually more strategically deep than a standard weapon. Stuff like using mines to blow up marines and running back through the marines' PG is fun (:

I wish that they wouldnt have Fades or Onos with only 1 hive.. thats made the game SUPER hard for Marines, and the fact that Hives are only 40 res now and not 80 is really hard on Marines too

try playing a game of 1.04 (if you can find a server), the chambers and turrets are MASSIVE!

Fades running faster backwards then marines running forwards. Melee Fade vs Acid Fade! Turrets you could circle strafe as a Skulk, chomp it down and not take any damage. 19 LMG rounds to kill a Skulk. Shotguns that cost 20 res. Marines that bunnyhop more then Skulks. When leap actually killed things instead of being a ghetto blink. Phase gates that had 6000 armor. Babblers. Two hive web. When a healspray kill was humiliating. Walls of lame that were actually lame. Three hive spore that killed you in two seconds. Through walls. Paralysis + Jetpacker = crater. Mine spam. The red mine laser of doom. Pistol scripts.
Yes.. ns1.04 was fun... I should try talking a server admin or two into running another NS1.04 server once in a while... I miss it... =( I used to be able to kill lots of stuff as skulk.. unfortunately, i only just started using it in the dying days of 1.04
there was little more satisfying than swooping down at full speed on a marine, taking two bites, then flying away
except for maybe pre 2.01d celerity skulks hehe
One hive, then hmgs + jps. Killed the 2nd, but never locked it down (ruined the fun). And then killed the 3rd, with what ever we had.
