Thing From Ages Ago

<div class="IPBDescription">It still around?</div> I remember reading something ages ago that, if a marine stands still for a long enough time (player = afk), the game takes control of the marine and turns him into a slightly inacurate turret. Is this true? Was it taken out? Why? and all related questions.

It was true, it was taken out. I can't remember what it was called, but the reason it was removed is that it was too accurate and deadly, and they didn't want to spend more time getting it to work.

AFAIK, it was taken out even before 1.0 was released.

You are talking about Overwatch and yes it did exist. However, it was removed long before public release. There are still a few references to it if you poke around the game files.

Anyone else think it's counter-intuitive for the game to automatically force AFK players in the Ready Room to join a team? I hate that. -.-

Wish every server automatically kicked a player for being afk for 5 minutes (10 at the very most). Particularly for the marines, it's annoying to have that guy telefragged when each marine spawns - then he goes back into the respawn queue and eats up respawn time for the non-AFK marines behind him (who telefrag him again).

Most servers with admin mod just kick you off the server if you remain in the ready room.

Overwatch is a term in common military usage. It is not specific to WH40K, Space Hulk or any other Games Worskshop product. Read a book.

If you see something funny happen on a server, the most likely culpret is a plugin.
