<div class="IPBDescription">Open for new ones?</div>I wanted to know if there is still work to be done on Gametypes, or if there is an official count (i.e CTF etc)
Or are there any special gametypes especially for the game?
If so, I would like to suggest some sort of gametype where the marines are trapped in an area, with only enough rounds to barely get by if working together - and they have to break their way through the aliens pre-determined defenses (plus players ofcourse) and escape to safety.
This would force even more teamwork, as the marines would have nowhere to go but to push forward and work as a team. Otherwise they are more than likely going to die.

I know the main gametypes are always fun, but I hope in the future there can be discussions on new scenario gametypes, it all adds to the fun and immersion <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
Another cool type, imho, would be an infestation map, where aliens need to infest a certain percentage of rooms in a complex.
Combining different gametypes in one mod is a double-edged sword. You might get the best of both worlds, but more often the opposite happens and you annoy almost everyone. The tastes are just too different, so you split the community of the game into tiny parts who only play fractions of your mod, and get all angry once the server rotates to the part they cannot stand.
Just look what happened when DoD added the Para gametype. Or look at the popularity of that VIP rescuing thing in CS. I'm not into CS, but I think it is extremely unpopular.
It's so easy to lose your design focus when you start with all the "cool" things...

ugh... and CS raises its ugly head <i>again</i>. I can't stand sitting in spec to wait for the round to end.

VIP mode on CS is basically dead though.
Thats why I say, if there were to ever be any more gametypes.. it would be at a later patch, atleast several months into beta.
Atleast that way we'd know if people liked the original gametype, or if it needed adjustments.. etc

What would be cool is if there was one guy who had like a bomb or something(the marine specialist) and the aliens had a queen that was either player controlled or just kind of stood around, and the specialist had to get to the queens room and finish her off, and as long as the aliens had a queen they could respawn, but after the queen is dead they no longer can respawn and the marines have to finish off the alien threat. Or something.

That would be so cool. It would play like the DoD capture the flag maps, right? Or maybe something more similar to the beach maps. Either way it'll be wicked fun.
