All work and no play makes us go Crazy
I wanted to give my thanks to Flayra and Co. for thier masterfully done game. My buddies and I in HMM-264 have been deployed for about 7 months now and just recently got 2.0 through the mail here, and have been playing it alot. Loving every second of it. I rarely get a chance to use the internet so I am not much of a poster on these boards, but I read them every chance I get. And it amazes me the level of community around here, the only community I ever had a chance to be a part of that was this close was C.W.A.L. for Starcraft way back when.
And I wanted to throw out a challenge too, when our Battle Group gets back to CONUS you can guarantee that you will see our Marine Group hit the servers hard with all the squad movement and tactics we've been working on all this time out here on the boat. So be on the look out....
Thanks again Flayra for such a great game, and to the community for supporting such an awesome game. I can only imagine what the future holds.

I remember one of my friends was deployed in Iraq, and when he came back, his NS skills had improved dramatically, no joke. We better watch out for these guys....

Heh. I would imagine that a 40,000 odd ton computerised warship could rustle up a 16 player LAN and at least a satellite link to the net. It's not exactly a dinghy, the LHD-7 is the largest vessel of its kind in any military in the world.

There was a "test" done a while ago of what age group was optimal for playing as marines in NS... one of the test groups, while not age-specific, was current or former military personnel. If I recall, they went 1-3 (but nearly 2-2) against a team of server-regular aliens (1.0x) even though most if not all had never played NS and had only gotten a brief rundown of the gameplay beforehand.

    GG, military training!

I could never get any kind of training to make me a leathal killer, I would end up killing someone... I have a lot of anger!

Marines aren't killers. They are soldiers.

Show some respect for people willing to lay down their lives for you.

Well, I dont think this has any to do with respect, it's basically true that the marines are trained to kill.

    ye whatever.
In my view, saying that military people play marines in a better way is a myth. It's just like saying that scientist who study extra-terrestrial phenomena are better aliens...

    Um...

Hello, squad tatics for the marine's is supposedly what the marine's in NS are based on...!

However, while they will have supperior tatics, they still will only have average aim though...

Scientists who study aliens have nothing to do with the actual aliens themselves.

Marine's in a game who are designed just like it is in real-life(well, sorta) is very similar to real life marines.

Oh, and Steve, keep up the good work!

Looking on the bright side if we were to be invaded by aliens at least we could count on a draw.
