Dragonball Any Good?

+ Other anime stuff
I noticed that a channel in the UK is going to air the original Dragonball series. I'm not a big Dragonball Z/GT fan but I'd like to see the originals.

Also, are the original Japanese/English subtitles better than the cut English stuff?

On another note. I am going to order:

Blue Seed Boxset,
Generator Gawl Boxset,
and Guyver 1 & 2.

They are really cheap and I've heard they are worth the money. So I am going to order them. I never got to ordering the anime I said I would buy in another post because I bought a hi-fi instead Since then I have checked around and made a list of all the anime I want to own eventually (?600s worth, hahaha!)

Are those boxsets very good? I'll post my list of what I want if anybody is interested.

DragonBallZ is very weird. They show bullets hitting instantly, yet the people can dodge them, but whenever they do a fireball, it takes ages to reach them and they stand there doing nothing going, "Ahh! It's coming too fast! KAMEHAMAHA!!"

DragonBall is funny, though. With the kids able to lift up a house and stuff, it's funny, but there's less action.

I'd have to argue for the original DB over DBZ, simply for that humor value. DBZ turned into pointless drama-battles, some of which ended up lasting an entire season, while years could pass without comment in under a minute. Raving pointless stupidity.

    Blue Seed is decent, though.

Guyver is fantastic. It was the first series i ever bought and i was really pleased i did. It has cool action, a decent enough story, good quality animation and a nice splattering of blood here and there. Well worth picking up, but you do realise there's ~12 episodes, not just 2.

    i love dragonball!

mainly cuz i watched it when i was younger... then i saw that they were playing it on toonami.... i was like, "score!"

i think it's fun watching the history of goku. i've seen all the dbz episodes, so they're boring now. and DB is much funnier.

just watch the dang show and like it!

Yea DragonBall is FAR better than DragonBallZ. (though I think they both suck and give a bad name to anime) DragonBallZ is one of the dumbest shows I have ever seen. Pjofsky hit the nail on the head. There is NO logic in this damn show. When they're fighting Mojin bah or wahtever the hell his name his he keeps coming back episode after episode after episode after episode. "OMG, no! Little Mojin-bahs!! Everybody run while I use my badass ghost things to kill them!" Unless you're 8 I'd stick to stuff like Bebop or Trigun, quality stuff.

Yeh, I know it's 12 episodes and I heard it never got finished, so it has an abrupt end to it. I want to see some old school anime which I saw when I was younger.

I just finished watching my Trigun box set and I was happy I bough it. Made me smile a lot, I also don't understand why people say it's boring up until episode 5 when he uses his gun. I loved the first 5

Trigun had a good mix of everything really and it done it well.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh... I just thought. Has anybody every saw an anime film where there is a sniper in a building. He fires a bullet which the camera follows and it goes through a load of skyscraper windows and kills some guy? I saw it a long time ago and thought it was a really good scene.
