<div class="IPBDescription">what do you think?</div> Besides ignoring the uneven lines of the "cut" etc, what do you think? I plan on cutting the side and placing some transparent wall there, maybe plexiglass or plastic. I don't want to accidently kick my computer or something and risk knocking a glass pane loose. Put three red LEDs on the outsides of the radioactivity sign and blue LEDs inside to light my comp's guts up. Might be difficult to light the radioactive symbol, but its worth a shot. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Heres the one in the dark, if you really want to see the one with a brighter background just ask.

a) this thread shouldt be here (im right?)
b) the location of the radioactive simbol sucks, you cant get a really cool light on there.
c) of course u need to put plexiglass on there, it makes it see really nicer <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
First.. Lighting...
you will want to use CCFL's and not LEDS (the blue) a CCFL is a tube that lights up alot more than a LED... but require a power inverter... which comes in a basic package (more exspensive packages, than just the tubes)
i suggest buying a kit with long CCFLs, and using <a href='http://www.twistedmods.com/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=196' target='_blank'>this</a> Tutorial and twist the CCLFs around the radioactive symbol.
Plexiglass is the way to do it, but your going to have to find a way to "bolt" it on... most people use glue, and it's crappy like that. please use bolts.. you can find those at your local hardware store... also try to find "dressed up" bolt/screws.. it makes it look more professional.
as for the window cutting, center the radioactive symbol, an do a square cut out of that...mmm not too original, but you can give it a new apporach...

B) very nice idea... love the blue radioactive symbol and the red lights... Maybe expand more on the rest... the rectangles is a bit plain.
The idea to Mod my case came while I was cleaning out the garage. My father is an electrical engineer and has these huge boxes with mini shelves on them. Each shelf contains different circutry parts and I hit the mother-load. I never realized what was back there then I was like 5, but now that we cleaned enough junk out of the way, I found this stuff again! Laser LEDS, lamps, heatsinks, switches, ignition keys, diodes of all sorts, knobs. You name it, its back there. And what you see now plus a few more blue LEDs is what I have to work with.
Oh and I wish I could make the windows larger, but as you can see, there is nothing to show anywhere else...dang power supply takes up to much room. Might put a fan on top too as a blowhole, reading temperature right now with an electrical thermometer and it reads 28.3 C...so thats around...what...83.5 F? Thats quite a bit from the room temperature of 76
.
but that's just me.
I know the arrangement is really weird. The power supply is right in the middle of everything! BLARGH! going to put a changable decal there, don't know how to light it up though, the plexiglass is right up against it.
any ideas?
Fixed up that ugly power supply with a snazzy radioactive sticker, and put one of those warning diamonds on the other side which was bare up until now.
I hope to be recieving some red EL wire in the mail soon whih I want to use to ligth up the dark areas inside the case. I'll put a pic as soon as I get it put in <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Check it out!
And, as i'd always say...thread necromancy +6 <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
1) Vaio? OMG NUBLET!111
2) You should get that same sticker on the powersupply printed on UV sensitive material, then get a UV cathode shining on it, the areas that are UV sensitive (I suggest the text and signs) will look really good in the dark
antifreeze i think he got the one with a large heat sink and a special plastic air channeler - you can have a heat sink with fan or just a heatsink with a channel wth fan on end to circlate the air, mostly found on network computers.
zippy
I was thinking about running it under my keyboard keys to backlight them inthe cracks. I don't know what to do with this stuff since it isn't bright enough to light the dark areas in the back.
I took these two pics to show the relitive brightness of what I have to work with here lol. Any suggestions?
