Advanced Bios Stuff

Well, when i got my new Video Card installed (my AGP Radeon 9200 card) this computer guy changed some things in my bios settings and some other areas on the menu screen (When your computer turns on, you press delete and it takes you to a blue screen and stuff) and made my fps smoke. I was getting 100fps all the time. Now i've had to have my computer redone and stuff and the bios has kinda defaulted and im getting about 50-60fps where as before i was getting 100fps
Does any bright spark out there know what settings i should try changing?
Heres my pc specs

Windows XP
512 ddr ram
AMD Athlon XP 1800+
1.53Ghz
AGP Radeon 9200

I'l appreciate help immensly!

Get hold of the guy that set you up before and ask. It was probably some of the agp settings in the advanced section.

You could try changing your shared AGP memory. generally, people recommend 50% of your video card's memory.

Another thing you can try is your memory timing, however if you screw this up, your computer may crash on bootup, and you may have to reset your CMOS and start over.

Are your video drivers updated? Do you have anti-aliasing enabled? If so, your problem could be related to a high AA setting, or unoptimized drivers. Also, currently, I find Half Life runs in OpenGL incredably well, so you might try changing your HL Video driver to OpenGL to be safe. Do not use the 3DFX version, however.

Also, no one uses the fade smilie enough.

    A) If it's stuck at 60fps, it's likely vsync turned on, ot ati_npatch in HL. Type 'ati_npatch 0' to turn off Truform. Makes the game look good, but is a real framerate hit. Alternately, you may be running in D3D (DirectX) mode, which caps to your refresh rate under WinXP, vsync on or off (IIRC).

    B) This does not belong in General Discussion. *Phased* to Off-Topic.
