    In a sentence. Steam is a replacement for WON and a way for them to charge subscriptions and a network to pass down updates which right now really stinks, unreliable, and not worth my hard drive space.

    WORK THE BUGS OUT. That thing is a bug box. Ive never experienced anything like it before. Its like here I wrote this program that takes up 2 and a half gigs of space in a couple of weeks try it out and see what you think. Then blamo there goes your halflife folder, any third party server browsers you have is screwed, and you have to uninstall steam and reinstall hl and ns to get it to work. I 'cant wait' until steam is required' ha ha ha what a joke.
