When All Seems To Be Lost...

<div class="IPBDescription">...it's not :P</div> We were playing on ns_eclipse, aliens had computer core and eclipse command. Rines had maintenance. In a crappily organized strike, we completely failed to kill maintenance and with the RFK from all the skulk rushes, they got HA and JPS and basically everything. Suffice it to say, we were pwned. The epic begins.
From an entire team of Khaara, one lone gorge survived the massive onslaught. The remanents of a once glorious wall of lame and this single gorge were all that remained of a massive infestation. Little did the poor fatteh know but he was destined to become a hero among fattehs! The WoL had been "adversely affected" by the massive sonic pulses from the frontiersman seige cannons and all that remained was a pair of sensory chambers, green tips swaying slightly. The gorge cloaked himself and walked the long way from near the frontiersman's home base to the computer core, sneaking past legions of frontiersman and great vast farms of turrets. He slowly walked into computer core when a marine tripped on him! We thought the game was over, but the marine was so incredibly stupid he didn't even realize that the invisible thing he hit was in fact a Khaara. The lone fatteh snuck into the core and promptly hid in a dark corner under the hive. With the pair of sensory chambers nearby, he came up with a plan that would hurl him along the path to greatness! He built a hive. The marines were flying around with their jetpacks, searching. They never once thought to check their own base. After a few tense moments when massive suits of heavy armor walked past the poor fatteh, the hive was up. Khaara began to reappear around the gorge, congratulating him for his brilliant work! Skulks stood perfectly still, fearing the motion tracking that the frontiersman must surely have by now! Alas, a lone marine was blindly firing his pistol at the rafters when a stray bullet struck the hive. Skulks flew everywhere in a frenzy of biting and parasiting. Loud footsteps echoed through the hallways. The heavies were coming. A few grenades and seige cannons later, the hive was but a memory. In a final blow to the poor heroic fatteh, the last skulk on the team accidentally parasited him to death. Said skulk was torn apart precisely 3 seconds later by no less than 4 heavy machine guns and a grenade launcher. However, the grenades fired by the launcher exploded, sending 2 heavies to their most fortunate deaths.
Anyways, its a viable strategy providing the smacktard marines haven't upgraded MT or if they're bloody stupid. Good for early on, although this was about 40 minutes into the game.

Bravo for your gorge and your teams discipline to know when to stay still lol.

Great story.
It only needs a few smart regen celerity onos to crush rambo HAs , if the marine team isn't perfectly organized a 2 hive lockdown won't stand against a single onos , period. The best thing to do on pubs is to keep your team united and outfit them with HA HMGs/Gls asap , and never stop giving them waypoint to strategic objectives. Drop a turret farm and phase gate to make a pause if it's needed , but never let your marines wait. If they wait , they are more likely to wander off , even with a HA.
Dropping RTs after an onos has been crushing elec nodes is a great way of distracting the marines in the late game. Without a strong , united HA train , this can be the marine team's downfall (either they lose too much time destroying them , or the res generated allow faster onosing)
I wish more pub serversr would run tourney mode, it makes the game a lot more interesting.

The problem with having a server with tourny mode on is the fact that they need a constant admin to stop corruption.
Imagine a commander, upgrades the armory, drops one next to the CC and hops out, and then proceeds to wipe out his entire team. As they quickly try to scurry into the empty cc only to find out that he has already recycled it.
And on aliens, onos' killing the hive. And skulks biting gorges to death becaues they were not healing them.
Casual play is great for pub, but for tournament, it's strickly for tournament games.
Friendly fire in NS is not a good thing, especially with the relative flow of new players everyday.
