Marine Blood Not In Standard Ns?

<div class="IPBDescription">I've only seen it on one server</div> I've only seens marine blood enabled on one server so I assume it's disabled by default. It's pretty unrealistic to see just green blood and bullet holes in areas of large fights, the marine blood adds much more atmosphere. So why is it left off by default? To avoid a more mature rating?

    Uh, marine blood is a feature in NS 2.0.

    maybe it's just because you never hit the marines? <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
    It should be working, maybe you just dont realize during a fight. Blood doesnt stay on the gorund like alien blood does

    yeah, I see it all the time, not only my own blood and the blood of my comrades flying out and up against the walls, but also the blood of my victim as I rip him to shreds </pg-13>

    Bah, the flying against the wall thing keeps getting me thinking about the Half-Life 2 engine's limp body physics, and hopefully it will support more weapon types, then there will be a reason to port the game over, so we can have more weapons (If needed) and over-all just better looking.

    Back on topic, yes the blood does show, its just the sprite is too big to be shown at close. An example would be if you bile bombed at close range, you dont see much/any of the "bile" sprite (Yellow stuff) because its too large, and out of focus at close range, to prevent screen clutter.

    Have fun anyways. <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif'><!--endemo-->

    What I mean isn't the splatter when you hit someone, its the wall decals. Marine blood on walls isn't enabled in most servers.

    Which was a design decision to make the game more 'family friendly', cutting down the gore. The only reason that the visible blood appears on a hit now is to give unmistakable visual feedback on when you score, rather than the sparking that happened before. The server that you were on with Marine blood on the walls/floors was running a gore-plugin, aka not vanilla NS.

    i saw on one server once marines bleeding constanly when they where injured and they left a trail of red on the floor.
    wait i think that was a CS server=p

    would be a kewl plugin for NS tho..then phermones would really be useless.

    Except then you might be following a trail that was ten minutes old. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Would be nice if there was a client side toggle for the gore. Making NS "family friendly" by removing red blood seems quite silly.

    i do think there should be more blood.. i mean, look at the film "blade".. When a vampire bites someone, blood goes everythere, say an alien bites a marine, but should splatter out the bloody, not just jeft as a couple of particals on the floor <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Marine blood does stay on walls and crap, just small amounts of it...

    Believe it or not, it's the skulk itself that doesn't make much of a splatter, he is a very clean killer. Don't believe me?

    Turn on FF, and bite each other. Note, the lack of alien blood. Now, have a marine shoot each other. Blood will splatter everywhere.

    Aliens are just extreamlly clean and efficient killers, whereas marines focus on only the kill itself, thus the mess.

    Our <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> is a neat freak.

    Maybe the sight of blood makes aliens feel sick, so they figure if they digest it all then they wont get sick from looking at it??

    Right, just like it makes lions and tigers sick.

    If you have the max decals set to 0, it won't show all sorts of things. It should still show the blood flying, but it won't show it on the ground, but it might be enough to throw off your perceptions of it. 10000 decals makes it feel like a battle is actually taking place.

    Heh, I remember when NS still had corpse gibbing, but I think that was removed because it's rather silly looking more than because it's gorey.
