weird..
I have sucessufully installed ns on my lan linux server. Almost everything is
working fine, all excpt "the refresh button" on the client. The server can't
be seen on the "lan games" menu on the client. If i connect via console
("connect 192.168.0.11(:27015)") then it works fine. I can even see the game
on gamespy.

Who can i fix this?

I have already got this cvar:
sv_ nomaster 1
sv_lan 1
mp_uplink 0
(and arg) -nomaster -port 27015

Should i use another port? (the conterstrike mod works just fine on this port.(both are not running at the same time!)

Serversystem:
1,333ghz AMD thunderbird
512mb SD ram
100mbits netcard
9.0 Redhat
3.1.1.0 hlds port

Not sure, I haven't worked with the lan servers, but I would update to steam just to get upgraded before won goes down. I am not sure if lan servers need you to auth before playing but the steam servers have a new patch, so they might have fixed your problem. If not, I am sure someone has a solution to it here.

Does gamespy have a "LAN browser" function, or are you seeing it "on the internet"? If it's showing up on the internet, then it's not properly running as a LAN server, and will therefore not show up in a local client's LAN browsing.

verify that sv_lan is in fact set to "1" by typing sv_lan in your server console.
