If Only 1 Of 10 Ppf Would Defend

marine spawn, ns would be great.
But most times there is nobody so that single skulks take it out as long as the comm does not waste 40+ res in a small defense or make the turret farm twice as big to make it secure, instead of someone guarding it.
You know what you can spend 40 res in?
Shotgun rushes would not be called lame also, its just called lame by you because you suck in defense.

awww... don't go telling them that, it's the main thing I take advantage of as Fade

You just wait outside their base for the armoury humpers to get their fill and head off then blink in and start using buildings as cover from the turrets while you slash heck out of them; most comms won't have the initiative to get out of their chair to stop you so you only have to keep an ear out for the returning forces =3

Getting people to guard spawn here in Australia isn't difficult. Just say "Anyone want to base guard" and if you get no response, just say "Right, you two stay at spawn, everyone else go to spot x". Works 9/10 times. The rest of the time the base is generally constucted around a tf that can be quickly electrified as to make the spawn immune to skulk attacks.

Early Fades are a problem but hey, Fades are nasty anywhere.

One thing i like is when a comm puts up lots of turrets at like a hive and dbl res and the marines normaly hang around those areas. Its even better if they have been teching up for ages, they got proto with maybe HA. U get onos storm there base which has like 2 turrets and destroy all there tech, armourys go down in no time then they reloc to the hive they have or dbl res but they lost all there tech.

I think the problem is generally the comm's fault (as much as I hate to say it). In most games if the comm asks someone to guard base (or any other position) they normally do it. If the comm doesn't say anything, people assume that someone else will do it and run off.

In 1.04 there was always a base ****. Now this doesn't occur anymore. In 1.04 all the other aliens beside the gorge had nothing to do but go attack. Now in 2.01 most alien teams res **** first before they do anything else. If they do attack first the comm usually just makes turrets since 1 marine isn't good enough anymore to slay 6 skulks in a row.

so I guess you just play games then come to the forums and vent about what happened in that game. No one wants to gaurd base becuase it is boring. Place down turrets, mines, etc - do not count on a human player to sit at a single location for an entire 30 or 40 min match. Not gonna' happen.

The best part is when marines offer to stay in base and guard, and the comm is like "NO, go with the rest of the team... if I want a base guard ill ask for it!" 5 minutes later you hear the comm over voice... "Yeah looks like we are gonna have to relocate." At least at the first few minutes of the game, assign someone to guard base comms. You'll be much happier when the base doesnt get reamed by a lone skulk.

Meh, it's a great alien strat. Patients should be rewarded.

In a game last night, think it was on the Graveyard, the marines were fully teched up and attacking an alien hive. So, instead of going off to defend, another onos and I attacked their main base and took it down. We still lost our second hive, but the marines lost their main base

Well, this either belongs in marine strategy, if you just want your marines to behave, or in S&I, if you want to do something code-wise to fix it (like making marine comebacks possible with lots of res but losing your CC during an assault, like kharaa can hide at a few dcs (not even than in tourney mode) and rebuild the hive if they've got a decent load of res).

Ollj i didn't bother to read your post yet?... But isnt the commnader 1 person... Can't he just log out... OR if the commander is dead your team can just vote kick the ailens that are attacking...

If you are being attacked, I always say NEVER get out of the comm chair, because in that time, you can be killed, and the comm chair destroyed, and guess what, you are fuxed. Never jump out unless it is under control or you are relocating

In france, there's usually someone who volunteers for guarding base. It would be great if that guard didn't just leave base during the middle of a game, yelling that he's too bored and needs combat. It's even worse when you ask him to cover base and ends up at the opposite of the map when your base gets attacked (without a word of course)

leaving the comm chair's a tough one... if you're still a vanilla marine then I'll just gut you, but most of the brave few who've jumped out the cc to stop me when the nearest help is miles away tend to be the tricky ones who've given themselves an HMG and/or a jetpack at some point just in case
