I just did a check and it seems that not that Many people playing NS on STEAM right now (Less than 100!!! WTH!)

I play on both and actually have more problems with the non-steam version (the problems have always been there though; mainly crashing back to the desktop every couple of hours or so =P ).
Anyways, I just want everything to shift to steam because I hate having to look through both of them to see what servers are worth playing on lol
sorry for kinda jackin this thread but can anyone help me with my postt up top? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

Anyone notice that switching from like ns to cs will wipe your fav ns servers
STEAM kind sucks cuz it broke the Mod thats not under "VAVLe"
Hmm, well I just wanted to see how many NSers actually use STEAM ...... My server will be in East Coast , So if enough people reply I can open it up <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I dont know about u guys, but I have a steam and a CS 1.5 icon on my desktop, I use steam to play CS 1.6, and HLIT - which launches through my CS 1.5 directory, to play NS, DoD, etc. I plan on doing this until the NS bugs in steam are fixed
BTW, to whoever mentioned the authentication servers, they aren't down. If you're talking about the error it gives you when you try to connect to a game, try going into the Steam folder and deleting "ClientRegistry.blob". Then restart Steam and it should show the update window and(eventually) patch the file back in. Then it works.
I'm on steam but i'm thinking of using Won servers before they go down because Steam is lacking in servers <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

You can still create server short cuts icons, just point the shortcut to c:\program files\steam\steam.exe -applaunch 70 -game ns -connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:27015 -password xxxxxxxx
ASE can automatically detect the correct -applaunch and -game command line settings for any official valve mod and/or third party mod as long as you have run and successfully shut down that particular mod (crashing doesn't count as a successful shutdown, the only way is to actually exit the game like you normally would if you wanted tos to stop playing, ie "exit" or "quit").
I have uninstalled ASE (Which I unfortunately still have paid for) and I'm now using Steam only. There aren't that many servers, but the last few days, I have been able to find a game when ever I want. I sometimes play in Europe, sometimes in US, and the lag doesn't really bother me that much.
The menu system is broken, but as I know where every command is, it's not that big a deal. The random crashes after a game is annoying, but a quick restart fixes that, and it gives my aching shoulder a break. (Yes I know, I play way to much <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
I believe Steam will continue to improve, and right now it's pretty good. Kind of like NS 1.04, flawed, but still playable and enjoyable. I know it will only improve, with more servers and better players, and Valve seems to update Steam pretty often, to get it fully working, eventually with NS also.
I use Steam for ns, dod, and cs and the only problem I have with ns is the menus cuz im a noob and dont know them. Also, I believe, though not positive, that the WON servers are being shut down on Tuesday, September 30.

And devicenull, I was talking about h20. There was a problem with connecting to Steam games where it gave an authentication server error.
Converted to Steam without really thinking about it... had issues at first, but now it's working okay. I don't really have feelings for it one way or another; I see a lot of potential in it, so I'll just sit back and wait to see what happens with it.
Damn forgot My GeKaNoob password. ..... guess I'll use my older account <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
If you're looking for the best CSx2/Dodx1 Server, just join mine, I'm pretty sure you'll get good results (Lots of ppl from Germany plays my DoD server too!)
anywayz, the steam ID auth failing issue is kinda annoying, I mean seriously thats more like a bug in steam than anything else, delete the blob file gives ya a temporary fix, I dont think anyone will be happy to keep on doing that like every week or 2.
Guess not many ppl play NS on STEAM (Less than 100 Players! WTH!), I'll wait until Won = down before starting the NS server again.
lets see what VALVe gonna do .... (btw this only happnes after the patch.....so.....)

Since Steam started working 24/7, I've played CS, DOD, TFC, and TS on it with no problems.
Gonna try NS tonight, and it's probably going to work.
thats STEAM Auth server problem, you dont need to do anything, Just wait until it works, and log in again with your email address that you registered your CDkey to, it will work.
Steam can be a great prog if it didnt have more bugs than c&c generals did....
you can tell there working hard on it though...
right now the athentification server is down...
The freinds was undergoing maintenece but its up and workin now.

But I use ASE. It works perfectly well ( even better) with steam, and has the many functions.
to bad NS is not on RtCW,..

I'll download it sometime when WON goes down, at least then I know it must be a little more fixed.
Don't go to STEAM till it's flawless.
It's good to have more STEAM servers to show support and make the transition smooth.
ASE has full steam support, however I don't know about HLSW.
