Nice Effect On Ns_veil

hey, you guys here on the artwork forum make really cool pictures out of ns screenshots. today i noticed this, happening when a cloaked alien stands in front of one of those screens in ns_veil
this screen was taken in a normal pub game, but i think you can get even better screenshots when doing that with friends on an empty server

hope i didnt start a thread about something everybody knows about already <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Reminds me of a fantastic pic I got once, of a cloaked Lerk sitting in Umbra. The lerk still blocks the umbra, so you get this strange ghosted half-visible form inside the cloud... it's quite cool.

    it's an onos that is cloaked but because of the transparency of the map screen (i think) and the HL engine he sticks out.

    Oooooooh, now I see it...The Onos is facing to the cameraman's bottom right. Gotcha. I didn't see it due to that angle...looked like a retarded CC to me lol

    I dont know if this effect was caused by steam hating ns or what, but it was a cool effect I had never seen before.

    ahh now that pic i can explain. that is where the lerk in the game before obviously had cloaking. on returning to ready room he changed to smoothshaded instead of textured (dunno y it happens but occasionally it does) the cloak sticks to the smoothade in sortof a semi transparent way.... so meh.

    looks pretty cool though if it catches u off gaurd at like 3 am (voice of experience)

    Actually Owen, that isn't caused by cloaking, as it happens to marines too.
    It is usually caused by a person timing out as the game ends. Their model is sent back to the ready room, but isn't properly drawn, as the person themselves aren't actually on the server anymore. For the most part these ghosts will not move and just disappear eventually.

    Careful where you spore, people, it can seriously endanger the cloaked friend <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I know of this graphical trick but does it work in water?

    I havn't had the chance to try since there's such little amounts of it that are shallow... <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    [edit IE Skulk or onos standing in shallow pool of water with marine player looking down on the onos]
