A Real Command Console?

<div class="IPBDescription">- Funness!</div> Nanotechnology, remote construction, the creation of billions of micro-hospitals in seconds, a funky "logout" button - a game, a possible reality?

This reporter thinks not. Nor is it a reporter... hmm... messed that one up.

Thinking of the title of "Cyber Athlete" one fine winters night, one began to form the idea that the creation of a working genuine Natural Selection Comm-Chair could very well be possible, albeit without all the funky nanotech stuff... can't really help there, sorry.

Imagine: a fine leather chair, set in a comfortable reclining position - surround sound speakers around the headrest, can-holders on nearby arm-rest. Voice-comm microphone built-in. Insert into aluminium/steel shell with (large) air-circulation fan or air-conditioner in the back, and the ultimate gamer's machine built into the base. The real NS look comes through the steel half-dome front cover of the chair, running on proper slide-rails and clipping lightly onto the back. Internal lighting optional. Peripherals and other paraphranalia go inside the domey bit, just above where legs are placed.

Comfortable, functional, and very NS-esque*.

*NS-esqueness comes at a low, low price of $20!**
** plus postage, handling, construction costs, and machine costs. (Ten grand upward?)

Just another random idea from the messed up brains of the compunut.

The only problem with a comm chair is that the visual interface would really have to be VR or a similar goggles/glasses-based apparatus. A standard screen at eye level would be too close to view properly, while one at desk level would give the guy a nasty crick in his neck after a fairly short amount of time.
