<div class="IPBDescription">"attacked" on two fronts</div>Hey everyone,
I've been seeing a lot of threads recently that people are tired of waiting for NS. At the same time, the playtesters are all telling me about a zillion things that aren't working or need to be rebalanced. I also have plenty of my own goals to complete before making NS public. Some members of the dev team (me included) want more then anything to get the first version done and take a break. So the team is simultaneously being told "hurry up hurry up" and "there's so much broken that you HAVE to fix"! It makes it quite difficult to be sandwiched in between and try to make everyone happy.
So try to be patient (even if that means going off and doing something else for awhile), and try to have faith that we are working hard to make a great game for you.

Don't worry, they will survive...
we'll enjoy it sooner or later, thats for sure, but i think people needs to calm down a little <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
I am really looking forward to a well finished mod, and I don't really mind waiting a bit longer for it.
So its the PLAYTESTERS faults we don't have NS yet! Damn them!
:-P
Thanks for the update Flayra, makes it a bit more bearable.
Though an ETA would be better. <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

the wait will be worth it! :>
Well, the playtesters (myself included) are a pretty intelligent lot.
I haven't seen anyone mention something like "change this gun, it sucks because I can't use it".
Please credit us with more intelligence than that.
There is a good two-way dialog between the devs and the PT's and this has lead to an incredibly excellent game.
Any balancing issues are discussed at length by both the PT's and the dev team with many peoples perspectives involved. Then it's discussed again... and then some pain-in-the-backside (mea culpa) brings it up again and it's discussed again with all the pros and cons weighed up.
As always not everyone agrees with everyone, but when a consensus is reached it's usually a good middle ground.
So at the moment, yes, I think the PT's are holding things up by working on balancing issues and feeding back to the devs... it'll be worth it tho.. *BELIEVE ME*
I'm a cynical old git who's been playing games online (in various forms) since about 1987 (good ole PBEM) and I can tell you that NS is about the best game I've ever played.
Since I started in the PT, I've dropped every other game like a stone, that includes DoD which was my greatest love since 1.0 and NwN which I waited 3 years for (and loved).... All else now seems tame and boring compared to NS.
The PT's work hard (and the devs 10 times harder) so please don't disrespect their hard efforts on your behalf. (I'm only a n00bie PT so my contribution is alot less than most)
So, hold your horses... when NS is released it really really *really* WILL be worth the wait.
joev.
Really, take your time, do it right.
