<div class="IPBDescription">Its not quite NS, but I need help!!</div> Hey all! I havent posted in a while...I've been a little busy. But I'm working on a new Desktop to go with my Cha-Ninja windows theme and I'm stuck. So far, what you see below is all I have. But its lacking something and I cant decide what.
Can you guys give me a little push in the right direction?

The direct translation from the Japanese Kanji symbol (which is whats above the word Boshidou in the picture) is spelled B-U-S-H-I-D-O-U, instead of the newer slang-spelled Bushido (like in Bushido-Blade).
Kanji is weird that way, cause its old.

but the chaninja theme rocks, i just made my desktop the chaninja colours and it looked beter than having it different colours

Hmm, i don't much like the top and bottom borders, the colour just looks... icky.

But it needs cherry blossoms. Yes, cherry blossoms.

It may look better with his right elbow pointing out more. It will fill more space, make him look a little more balanced and make the arm the same size as his left (the right arm looks a bit shorter to me.)

Alright, here's phase 2. I took up some of the space with two Samurai on the ground by the Shinto post. I also added an Eagle in the sky...because..um...Eagles are cool? I fixed the left arm a bit, and redid some shading. I changed the hue of the borders (someone said they were ugly) and touched up minor details I missed before.
Sooo, what now? I seriously contemplated Cherry Blossoms but they just dont fit anywhere. There's no place for them that doesnt make them seem out of place.
Any other suggestions?

Smear blood on the top of the blade--why else would he be wiping it? And for the area below it, try adding a dab or two of blood, and blur it or something.

well, after looking at it closely, i notice that there is nothing wrong with it, at my first glance it looked very strange. The only problem i can see if probably the colours of his armour, blue, blue, blue, yellow, brown and white. To top it off there is a blue border. By all means, your work is correct, but you are right in saying that it is lacking something

A few things that bugged me....

First those blades are extremely sharp and if he was wipping it off, it would more than likely be reversed so that he would not be running the palm of his hand accross the blade (not only is this good knife safety but good sword safety as well)

The picture is better than I could do, but it seems a bit one demensional, almost flat and not popping out of the picture.

Everything below the waste seems small, and the arms don't seem to be in the right positions.

Good qualities - I love the color scheme and the background. It is an awesome idea, and it looks like you have put some time into it.

Other than the items I mentioned, it looks nice!

I think he meant the Samurai.

Add a Japanese style wooden frame around the edges of the blue parts. At the moment they look a little empty and odd.

His left elbow where the glove meets the cloth of the arm seems to be missing, or maybe it's just me.

Very nice otherwise, colors are bit too monothematic, but the quality of the objects in the picture is excellent.

Ok, I'm gonna say this now: That looks REALLY bad. I'm sorry, but it looked better with the top and bottom thing.

And personally, I think the best version is still the 1st one. personally, I think a way to make it seem more of my personal style(I realise its yours, just giving my personal impute), but that the sky should not be shrouded, but instead, should be clear, maybe with a bit of lens flare from the right side of the shinto gate.

Actually I agree with you. I'm starting to get annoyed with the scroll...it was more of a test anyway. It didnt turn out how I wanted it to. *sigh* Now I'm bacl to square one again. I cant decide what to do now. I guess I'll just remove the scroll and replace it with the blue panel as before...keeping the blood on the sword and other stuff I added of course.
I think maybe its done now though, after I replace the scroll with the blue panel. *slaps self* thats was just a dumb idea. I should know better than that.
Any last minute suggestions?

Dude, the chest/groin plates look way too flat/2 dimensional. Almost as if it was a textured brush. They also seem to meet in the middle of his waist. Flesh out the middle of his body more and make the chest plate form to his body more and the groin plate umm... not so big. Also, where's the scabard? great work btw.

Took me a minute or three, but it appears that his upper half is armored quite a bit more thoroughly than the lower... normally where you would see sode (the upper-arm guards) you would see kusazuri (thigh guards). He *does* have the yurugi-ho in the front, but his hips/legs look a little narrow without the kusazuri there to add visual bulk.

Add a bit more bulk to the armor,and fix the helmet a bit,the V-shape doesn't look like it's been attached to it,it looks like it....uh nevermind lol....someone will kill me if I mention the h- word

Right now his armor looks a bit....flat and weak,add more definition to the armor,and as I said before,add a bit more bulk

the scroll just seems to bring out the emptiness in the bottom =/

I still say it needs a touch more red; an easy way to do it would be to add some artful blood droplets on the background behind the bushido insignia ^^
