Cannot Authetnicate With Won Servers.

<div class="IPBDescription">Uh WTH?</div> I was playing just fine,then i stopped playing for a while,came back a couple of hours later and i cant authenticate to the servers.Now since i tried 6 different CD keys i find it terribly unlikely that all 6 would be in use.

Does anyone have the amended set of WON servers IPs?You know a long time ago people used to have trouble connecting/authenticating and they needed to change the won.comm file to put in amended IPs?Does anyone know of the IPs i need to change?Im thinking this is the problem...

    Hmm i didnt realise this before because i was using HLSW....

    But when i try to go into any multiplayer area that requires a connection to the servers,i get "Cannot authenticate with valve servers".Strange.

    I dont think won is down either.If its down how do people connect to servers,im watching a server from HLSW and it increased from 8 to 14 players in the last 30 minutes.

    Does anyone have an amended won.comm file or know the IPs i should put in?I want to try that first....

    This absolutely has to be one of the strangest thing i have ever experienced regarding computers.

    The other one would be watching matrix 1,part 1 of 2,in windows media player(paused) and having sounds of part 2 playing and me thinking that im experiencing some neo communication thing,when it was actually part 2 playing in kazaa threater <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I restarted comp.No dice(monty python's law : any and all problems never have easy solutions).

    I had the exact same stuff in woncomm.lst,but i just went ahead and copied and pasted gem's list in.

    And...it worked.

    Strange isnt it?

    Steams fine by now. Just a few bugs... but these can be horrible.... when steam won't update your serverlist or something like that but the rest is fine.

    i used to have this problem with my P3 450 under Windows 98 ..

    i was able to get around it by reinstalling HL1110 that would fix it until i rebooted my comp .. and then had to do it all over again..

    with my new comp P4 2.8 under Windows XP Pro. .. haven't had that problem at all

    i have searched the web for answers to the same question (initial post) but found no real solution except the trick i just mentioned.. i seriously think its a Windows 98 issue

    Restart your PC. Works for me if I ever get that problem. When I get it, it means that I have to reboot my pc.
