And, actually, it Is stealing unless you have the permission of the original creator to distribute their work. regradless of whether you want to call it "promoting" or not. A Rose by any other name is still a Rose.

Thats mostly because you picked models that Arent going to be popular with the majority of people.. what was that, Skeletor for the HA?, and, some kind of Huge helmet guy for the LA? Kinda reminded me of the guy from Blaster Master on NES..

And, I DO know some of the people who made those models, Specifically that USP. And I dont think he's gonna be too happy about someone releasing it for him.

And I dont know how you can consider this pulicity when you arent even crediting the original authors.
If I were you I would stop this.

Again, WE're not being negative. But Modellers Usually dont tend to take kindly to someone Zipping up another modellers work, releasing it as a pack, and using the excuse "Publicity". No, Its redistribution, and its the same reason why Net artists stop posting art. Next time you decide to release a pak, Follow the rules and ask permission.

There are better models out there, not saying that those models aren't good, but there are more higher quality ones out there. Also, when you release a pack, you might wanna make a theme for it so all the models go together and not just random <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>. And yeah, credits are important too <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'>

You have zero to do with it, so you're basking in the reflected glory of (mostly <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'> ) honest and hardworking people.

he never said he did it, and regardless of what you all say, its not stealing untill he does. If i buy a car, and then turn around and sell it, i didnt say i made it, i just said this is what i payed for it, and this is what i will be willing to give it away for.

since none of us pay for any of your models, we dont care who did them, were willing to include it with a .txt, but this whole " dont distribute without my permission" thing.... could we BE any more Lars Ullrich?

If he's passing on files without the consent of the owner, then yes he IS doing something wrong.

Second, if you can't abide by the rules, don't download them. I don't give a flying fig whether you download anything I do or not. I couldn't care less. With an attitude like yours it's little wonder the modelling community stays so small in most mods. Who wants to make things for a community full of ungrateful little snots who claim they can pass around work despite downloading work which they have agreed NOT to pass about?

And by the way, if you don't credit the owners, then it IS theft.

Your car analogy is flawed, considering cars have big badges declaring who made them - skins and models don't have such an easy marking system. txt files are easy to delete, you know.

we all know people who pass things around without crediting them are jerks, but if you created your model to get credit for yourself, you shouldnt do it in a free community like this, go to games fusion or something... i dunno, It just seems silly to me to argue over this, artists are supposed to be creating art for everyones enjoyment, and yes, they'd like people to know they did it, but the point is to share something beautiful, not to get credit for it

Im a writer, and I like very much for people to read my work and enjoy it, I attach my name to every piece i write, and expect them to continue passing it on that way.

BUT, Im not so arrogant as to say " You can give this to whoever you want, but YOU cant, you have to tell your friends to go here to get it"

I mean come on, once you give it away like that, unless they dont give you credit, you GAVE IT AWAY!!!!!! Unless you actually sell it to them i think you can have no reasonable expectations of control

I think if this guy likes these models so much, he should include their credits, and mirror them.
