I would love to join you guys but, one question. When is the DM ever a player-character?
I have seen one example of this once but it was a campain based on a NO RULES attitude. Anyone could be or do anything they felt like.
There was a MacGuyver that made a nuke from a paper clip and a rubberband. The DM was called "The Insane One." Someone was Yoda. There were superheroes and anime characters.

OK, the blinky belt is alright? But I need something else to right? How about I can carry stuf in annother universe that I reach into with my belt, the other stuff being guns and what not for everyone not just me.
EDIT: BTW the belt being used as a weapon was based on the physics of telefrag. And to use the belt constantly would wear upon my mind and body. So the way to limit it works like the Kharaa "energy as ammo" thing.
