To be blunt, my opinion is that if you don't like it, go elsewhere. If you can't find an elsewhere, make your own.

If you can't go elsewhere or can't make your own, learn to deal with it.

There are nights where there is NOONE in any nearby server, bar the French/German/etc ones. If I go there, I fully expect to run into communication difficulties. Thats how it works. Likewise unless you join a server that expressly states "English only" then you MUST expect that at some point a player will appear who doesn't speak it well. And thats life.

Yeah its a sucky excuse for poor play, but if it wasn't that, then it'd be some other excuse, so I don't even see how its become an issue. It only makes members of the community biased against people who don't speak english.

BTW, I speak conversational french - I could ask my way to the station, order a meal, chat about my last holiday, but if someone's barking build orders at me then I won't have a bloody clue what they're saying. Likewise for people who learn conversational english, then have to cope with 5 voicechats screaming at them in fast, highpitched english to build stuff.

I think that in the North of the UK , they speak Gaelic (spelling?), which sounds to me like like english while choking on a squirral.

I have to admit, I have this language problem often. I like to try to "play the field" and try foreign servers alot. Im also learning German, so it can help if theirs some around to talk to alittle. Anyhoo , I typically play with foriegners in games where Im the only english speaker, or so it seems. I play with the handle "BlueTorpeedo[USA]" ~ as im from The States. anyhoo, it seems that every non US/Brit person online has a thing against us Americans for the whole IRAQ thing , ignoring that fact that most of us dont agree with Bush and many of us (including me) did not vote for him (and will not again). That basically means Im a loser for being born on this part of planet earth as opposed to any other, or, more simply, im a loser or things completely outside my control, save assasination.
Anyhoo , I dont want to rant or go to far off topic, but as soon as they realize Im American , they refuse to listen to me or help me. Foriegn COM wont drop equipment for me. If I go COM Im immediately vote-kicked off. Ill be next to a gorg and they wont healspray me. I really dont understand why. And I know they speak English, because:

1) They have english names. (not a garantee)
2) If I say something REALLY important they will react (like "the rines are building siege at BIO!")
3) If they REALLY need something from me (like a heal or umbra) they will ask in PERFECT english without hesitation.
4) They forget that Im there and start speaking english normally. (they stop when I point this out to them)

And the worst part is, I have no problem with them whatsoever. I have nothing against their countries or anything. It just feels kinda alienating. When I talk to my freinds here in the States about other places they are always like "Yeah, _______ is so beautiful. The people there are so kind. Their culture is Wonderful. I really want to go there some day. They make cool cars!.... ECT". However, it seems that if you mention America in those countries the people spit on you. Whats the problem!?

I once had a game that went EXACTLY like this:

I join server "X";
I join Aliens (my favorite);
Me: "Hey team, I just joined, whats the situation. Where are we attacking and what do have captured?"
Admin:"You speak english?"
Me: "Yeah , is this a foreign server?"
Teamate: "<some country>";
Admin: "Are you Austrailian";
Me: "no, Im American....";
*****BANNED*****

This isnt meant to be a rant or flame or whatever. If anything , its a plee for perhaps some of the more "angry" players to calm down alittle. Cant we save all that bitterness for those that deserve it, like to god damn marines!

Maybe it's USA's foreign policy and their general attitude to the rest of the world (**** Kioto, **** the nature, **** other's opinions, we need CHEAP GAS).

Maybe an average USA citizen shouldn't be blamed because of their leaders' actions. But admins/players from other countries are definitely a bit **** off and the only way to release their anger is to ban players from USA.

And no, they won't stop watching Hollywood movies, buying computer hardware made in USA and n+1 other everyday things they are accustomed to.

I think he means when they're pinging 50, on an american/euro server and claim to be Sing. Also I know good bit of Singapores know english, though their english can seem a bit weird since they use something other than periods or questionmarks.

Oh I fully agree with the sentiments expressed in the initial post. So often, me and my mates are on an Australian server and what happens? A bunch of New Zealanders join. And they're all running around, speaking in some weird tounge about "weilders" "cimmand chirs" and "hivy michine gins". We never know what they're going on about.

Oh no! They started a conversation about people pretending to be something they're not! LOCK!!

Oh no! They're talking about people who lame up the game by doing <lame thing>!! (hey I do that...) LOCK!!

Oh NO! I can't possibly add to this conversation in an intelligent manner! LOCK IT LOCK IT NOW!!1!

...
/rant

Chill people, he makes a good point- and the lot of you wanting to have it locked are not under any obligation to read it, so don't.

The subject: People who don't listen to their team because they pretend not to speak English because they come from far away country.
How do we know they're lying?
1) They ping around 50.
2) They were speaking english before they starting doing something lame

So, no this isn't a case of some one being an **** about interlingual problems- it's about people that fake it as an excuse to ruin the game.

It's really the people who type nothing, ever, but still respond in ways that show they understand while still not saying anything that bug me.

As far as bad-attitude towards america is concerned you'll find that people are more willing to be nasty online than in real-life =/
In RL if someone stops and asks for directions almost anyone will usually try and genuinely help them, online if someone asks how something works then you'll just get cries of 'OMG JOO NOOB!!!' or get completely ignored. Not to say people won't help online; lots will, it's just that behind the mask of anonaminity many people will let the worst parts of themselves out for some excercise -.-

edit: missed out a bit of the first paragraph by accident ^^;
