Asus released Radeon Cards
:: pukes, then wallows in his own sorrow ::

My trusted asus slapped me in the face by mounting the evil ATI chips on their beautiful boards... :: Slaps Valve :: And its being bundled with HL 2 supposedly durn it I hope its a prank, and some evil hacker just put that up. But since valve is now in bed with ATI I guess it really is true. Supposedly the prequil to HL will be bundled with ATI cards.

True, good comms are hard to find...but i fail to see your point...

Seriously, though. ATI is just another Graphics Card type. No need for hate all up in here. At least it's not a Valve/Apple partnership.*shudders*

Prequel to HL? Whaaaa?

And in other news, people can't spell coming. It is believed that this will also influence the end of the world.

If ASUS did team up with Radeon
there's no way that they would package it with HL 2

Isn't it a good thing if Asus teams up with ATI?

It's a good thing that people are finally realizing that ATi has much more potential than nVidia does for future development. While nVidia focuses on getting the most FPS while sacrificing quality, ATi is building cards that deliver simply beautiful quality at acceptable frame rates. (Anyone who says that 60 FPS isn't acceptable has no idea what they're talking about.) nVidia's AA just can't cut it, compared to ATi's. Sure, ATi has been a bit shaky with drivers in the past, but the latest releases have been really great. (Especially the Cat 3.8s. My on ly problem with them is that Vice City won't start up. It'll be fixed, I can live. Coby's problem is that he got a retarded bargain bin card. )

I used to love Nvidia. I'll admit that right now. Now I want to take a knife and dismember the idiot who decided to make the GeForce FX 5200! Why bother making it sound impressive if it can't work well? At least ATI, as of late, has been kind of truthful in saying which cards are mediocre and stuff!

Gonna get a 150-200$ ATI Radeon or possibly a GeForce ti card. No more falling for MX or FX.

I know someone who was complaining about his FX 5200. In his own words: "I bought a video card, not a vacuum."

my geforce 4 ti 4600 was a waste of 200 dollars.... My 2 year old ATI Radeon 7200 gets better FPS in all games....

ATI! ATI! Ati still has the fastest card ya know.
• Smoke_NovaSmoke_Nova Join Date: 2002-11-15 Member: 8697Members
yes, yes ATI does kick arse. Once the new Nvidia drivers come out Nvidia might be good again.

The new Detonators might make the GFFXen faster in terms of framerate... but you'll also have blurry, ugly image quality which you CANNOT turn off. On an executable-by-executable basis, of course.

But then, a TNT2 can probably pump up close to 100fps with everything turned all the way down, staring into an empty corner in the ready room.

In other news, I'm finding it fun that my R9500 Pro can crank along just great in the 9800 Pro 'Chimp' demo... as well as outstrip an FX5600 in the nVidia 'Dawn' demo.

Excuse me Tal, but I think it's the Ogre demo. Dawn is for my FX5200.

Eh? No, I mean the Dawn demo. A group of college students put together an instruction wrapper that allows it to be run on ATI cards. Which, in theory, should run slower than on the nVidia cards. Instead... it actually runs faster, and looks better on ATI hardware.

I refuse to buy from ATI for two reasons.

1.)They mislead the customer(to an extend far beyond nVidia)
2.)Advertisment wh*res. If they make really good products they don't need to bombart me with BUY ME NOW bs.

Oh! I remember a third. They issue series filler hardware. (Radeon 9000, anyone?)

hey, if it works it works.

and Talesin - Isn't Dawn purrrrrrrrrrrdy?

In response to your points:

1) No they don't. They deliver MORE than they advertise, usually.
2) Nothing wrong with advertisements. Their website still presents all the information you need to make an informed decision.
3) The Radeon 9000 is NOT "Series filler" hardware. My R9000 runs damn good, thank you very much.

Would it suprise you at this point if Nvidia introduced a new feature to rival ATi's trufurm called stick-form™ that gets 300 fps in doom 3 on a tnt2?

People people, chill.
I have a GeForce 4 Ti 4600. I can tell you for dx8 based games it is the win, or at least, was. The GeForce FX range is, well, overestimated. They simply cannot keep up with the ATi cards anymore.

Asus is selling both Nvidia and ATi chipsets, so relax a bit, ok.
• GreyPawsGreyPaws Join Date: 2002-11-15 Member: 8659Members
I have 2 Asus V8460 Ultras (ti4600) I've never had a single problem with the cards, the graphics on evrything (Hitman 2, Homeworld 2, and pretty much everything else I could throw at the cards) turned all the way up never bogged it down. I've never had a problem with AA, and the only game that ran poorly on it was Republic: The Revolution, but I challange any of you ATI owners to play that game and get better results. Bottom line is, if Nvidia goes the way of 3dfx and leaves only ATI on the market, people will be paying $600 for their vedio cards and think they are getting good deals. I'm sad to see Nvidia not keep up with their duties, thats the only thing that could explain Asus picking up the ATI chips.

<stagewhisper> Hey, what can you expect from a manufacturer that's been resting on its laurels and marketing department's smear campaigns for the past couple of years, while their competition has been working their butts off? </stagewhisper>
