How to Play
I make a simple wallpaper, then (in alphabetical order) the next person modifys it to a certain extent.
We do this 3 times each.

Rules

1) No heavy modifiying.
Eg. The edited image must still resemble the last one - but you can modify it as much as you want as long as you can see at least a bit of the old image

2) Sign up date starts now, ends 18th October. On the 19th i will post my wallpaper and the order list.

3) 1 day maxuim per turn. If you miss your turn, it automatically goes to the next person in line and you are disqualified.

4) Dont spam saying that "OMG THAT IS SO ****!" or "OMG THAT IS SO COOL!" Only constructive critisim if you are not taking part

5) You are allowed to add images to the wallpaper, but nothing illegal please

6) Doesnt have to be NS related.

7) Have fun goddamnit!

sooo... are you judging the best edits or is this just a "lets see what happens" activity. I'll do it either way since it sounds like a hoot.

Enforcer: You need to teach me how to do text like you do. Your amazing at it, and I'd love to learn the different techniques.

So are you going to be wanting the image as a .gif/.jpg or are you wanting the .psd?

    JPG/GIF required

And a PSD copy is optional but preffered

you should make it 1600x1200 so it can be shrunk to fit smaller sizes, cause if you try and use a 640x480 image for a 1600x1200 desktop it looks like crap.
  • watch_me_diewatch_me_die Join Date: 2002-11-10 Member: 8107Members
The image should be passed around uncompressed or it will look like poop by the end of it...

1024x768 is about the standard now days. I'm at 1280x1024 and I know lots of people on 800x600. nobody has 640x480 anymore and most moniters dont support 1600x1200.

    :edut typo:

    Sounds nice, im in too.
And yeah, I agree with size being 1280x1024 or atleast the standard 1024.
And about the format, seems like almost everyone in this thread uses Photoshop (What? You mean theres another image editor too? Burn this pagan worshipper!) and while we all want decend quality wallpapers after saving it for dozen times, shouldnt the format be either .psd or .tiff and the final version is max quality .jpg? (I dont like fuzzy wallpapers)
And when we are talking about quite big wallpapers, 256 colour .gif picture doesnt fit im my high-colored reality.

And I would certainly be very interested reading reports about what- and how changes were made. Even standard methods can have 3-5 ways making em, as you know. Learning different ways always is enlightening experience

All images should be linked to, not just posted on the forums (to stop 56k'ers not participatin)

Images should be in 1600x1200, not that many people use it, but because if some people DO they will be able to.

High quality jpg/jpeg required and a copy of it in your image editors file type (like .psd)

And if you have any really cool effects that you think other people might like, please post a tutorial or a brief descrption on how you did it
  • MazkalineMazkaline Join Date: 2003-02-11 Member: 13409Members
And that linking most likely will be problem so those who will be unsure about where to put files and how long they will stay on server, can send picture to meki@mbnet.fi
Theres not very much space in server so keep it cool.

when the actual 'battle' comes, do we have to stick to the theme of the image, or can we, say... add skulks playing poker to an image that involved F-16's flying overhead and bombing a bunker. Not saying that i would, I just wanna know if we can go crazy with it.
  • BelgarionBelgarion Join Date: 2002-07-19 Member: 973Members
Me too me too! I'll do it.

And yes, i DO use a 1600x1200 desktop resolution.

(Not to you but to everyone)

When your editing, use your sense. Dont add totally irrelevant pictures unless the improve the wallpaper in some way.

If theres a badger on there, dont go and add a skulk, a siege, a chicken and a snake.

    No you can't.

Because you'll be near the end, so if i sent you the first image, by the time you'd have finished with it, it would look nothing like the one your supposed to edit.
