A Question About Elec Rts/tfs

is this possible
i read the patch notes for 2.01e the other day and it said

"upgrading electricty attck so it attacks 2 things at a time"

well my question is this, if you have a gorge and a skulk working together taking rine RTS down. could the gorge build 2 OCs right next to the elec RT/TF, and when the RT/TF attacks the OCs couldnt the skulk just run in and eat the res without sustaining elec damage? i know this would cost 20 res per RT but thats not to bad and if the OCs are still there after the Rine RT falls ud have 2 OCs ready to defend the new rt the gorge could build.

would the skulk take damage?

probably not, but you would be just as busy healing the ocs and you would healing the skulk...trust me...

Rather than blow 20 res on two fairly pointless OCs, you're better off just healspraying a skulk. He'll do the job faster too.

The answer is a resounding "no."

I build 4 OCs around an elec RT, and it still zapped me every time I got within range.

Or, in identical words, "ELECTRICITY HITS MORE THAN ONE THING AT A TIME." I don't think they mean it only hits TWO things now.

20 res wasted since elec hurts OCs faster than you can usually heal them. Back in the old days, you could do this and have the skulk bite it, or even have 5 skulks bite it at the same time with only one of them taking damage. This is why they changed it.

Why didn't you just build 2 OC and then walk up to the Elect RT yourself? 2 oc and a gorge are 3 targets..

you didn't have to wait for a skulk to run up to the Elect TF....

Unless a gorge doesn't get hit.. but as I recall, being zapped by Resnodes are quite annoying as gorge with carpace..

build one oc far from the elec rt and the comm will hear 'our base is under attack' so much that he'll ignore it, then go and attack his base

Why would it say that the base is under attack? I have never understood exactly how it determines that. Is it the area where marine start is, or is any area with a CC? Either way, attacking an rt shouldn't tell the comm that their base is under attack (when it clearly isn't).

    "BASE IS UNDER ATTACK!"

press space bar and see it! dont't care about words...

i think it attacks the last 2 targets that come into range of it.

    not entirely sure though.

I know that ocs work on shooting the closest enemy and can be dodged by placing a cc close to the ocs. Turrets work (i think, most probably wrong) on the same principle. Thus i guess that electrify might work like this also.

Something to test: Try building an 2 oc right near the base of the rt. Then have the skulk chew it from the outside so it is furthur away. As it's 20 rez anyway, it's not really worth it. But damn interesting

If your just dropping 2 OC's to kill a rez node it may not be worth it. However, if you will be putting your own node there afterward you now have 2 OC's defending it.

2 Nodes don't stop Rines, but it certainly slows em down enough for someone to investigate.

no but if you build 2 dcs near it then you can pretty much take it down no problem.

from what i understand, electricity targets the weakest unit in its range >_<
