<div class="IPBDescription">....eavesdropping is a problem.</div> Some friends and I have low-budget lans at random people's houses, most of us are NS fans but the problem we have is that most of us are used to voicechat, especailly the commander-types in my group.
We don't usually have the resources to put people up in diferent rooms, so the there effectively is alltalk on the server but as we would rather not have this (whats the point of being together if you can't talk without the other side hearing?) any suggestions or ideas to cope with this problem would be good.

even team chat on other teams. I'm usually the server, but looking at the console is so hard to resist.
Anyone else get this? <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Do you have -dev as a shortcut parameter??
If you have try removing it. (it worked for me while i still played si)
Even if you can't get two different rooms of equal people you can at least do table vs table with people facing the other way on 2 tables vs the other 2 tables. This way even if you look up from your monitor you can only see other team members monitors. At that point everyone can hear each other so the issue becomes a moot point almost, or at least even between teams. Being able to not see the monitors of your opponents is pretty key however. One issue that comes up here is that you have to sort people out as they come in and make sure the two best people at the lan aren't next to each other and all the newbie loosers aren't at the same table. This makes for some pretty uneaven teams, but it's pretty easy to mix it up and meet a newbie while balancing the teams.
So, here's one idea, all of j00 ppl near the "Fox Valley" area or somewhere nearby, go to www.thebigcrapshoot.com
the crapshoot is a major lan party that is usually held at the EAA Hangars, roughly 100 to 120 people are allowed.
The next crapshoot is November 22, so you ppl need to register and then sign up for it. Half Life (NS, Cstrike, DOD) Battlefield 1942, Quake, UT, etc. are played and i'm sure we could have a nice NS game going.
So what are you ppl waiting for! register and sign up for the next crapshoot, so far there are 11 ppl reserved (including me). it will fill up fast in the coming weeks so hurry up!
