Want a screaming fast (less than 50 ping ) West Coast server with mindful admins?

Well, I got one available (om.oldf.net), and thought it might be neat to try and get some ppl from the forum on it. People often complain about not being able to find a good game or what not, and here I am, in a clan, with 3 FAST servers that are almost always empty. So I figured I'd offer one up.

I'll give some of the forum members here reserve slots, and have ppl from the forum play on it. You'll get players who know the game/willing to help others, as well as teamplay!! After a bit, i'll give limited admin to some of the more mature/helpful (by looking at past posts) forum folks, so you can ensure a nice environment to play on.

One plus with this server is that it's reserve system doesn't KICK anyone off! It just sets aside some room for the reservists that never get filled by the public.

So, sign up here, if you want a reserve slot, and we'll set Wednesday evening Pacific Time to start this server bumping <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'>

Who gets reserves:
1) friendly ppl who know their stuff, FIRST and FOREMOST
2) forum admins (i assume these ppl also conform to point 1 <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'> )
3) official IRC ns ops
4) devs (haha, uh, yeah, i'm sure they'll wanna play on this server :/ ), official mappers, etc etc
5) any of the server ops of NS fan sites

PS This server does have hours though, but as long as your west coast, it should be ok.
PPS You don'thave to be west coast to apply for reserve slot, but you'll get better ping if ya are.
PPSS This is currently a WON authed server, will be moving to Steam when Valve forces us.

Anyways I'll ask a factual question. What's the player capacity of the server? I'm more inclined to play on larger servers(16+ players)

My original thought was that the admins felt that threads discussing servers tended to degenerate into flamewars and advertisements of servers should be kept at "the appropriate places", like <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=17&t=36262' target='_blank'>this one</a>.

On second thoughts this showed to be a purely factual advertisement post at a good place, the General Discussion forum.

Should teach me not to dive headlong into threads with irrelevant links in an annoying short format <insert blush icon here>

Niteowl's server has been up forever. I think i started playin' on it back in January 2003 or something like that. Its on a very fast connection. People on the westcoast, and even much farther, will get very good pings. I'm on Vancouver Island and i get a 20 ping.

well, the server is up, as in my sig. but if we get super busy, i'll see what i can do about sending the reserve list to our 24/7 servers, then no worries <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

had a nice full server today, great games too, good team work.

i'd like to move this program to one of the 24/7 servers, but we'll have to see how well this takes off.
