<div class="IPBDescription">skin me.. D:</div> Ok, after long hours of struggling with lithunwrap, i've managed to produce a UV map for my RTX thompson LMG replacement. (concept by njroo ke).
I tried to skin it, but all my skins look like crap. I've combed over multitudes of skinning tutorials/techneques, but i just can't seem to make anything halfway descent.
If any avid skinners could take a stab at this i would be extremely happy.
it doesn't really have a colorscheme, just gray. i'm guessing you can add in colors and such, gray is pretty dull.

oh yea:
(i got really angry and grouped some of the unseen parts of the model into blobs, this part of the skin will not really be visible ingame, and plus boxmap screwwed it all up.. so whereever you see a jumble of polies, make that a dark color. sorry)

goto tools -> halflife and look in there. create qc file, compile qc file.

i noticed a huge gap in the model, where there isnt supposed to be one.
here, the grip is supposed to be slid all the way back.
plus, if this is a thompson, it would use a blowback system, but I guess it's gas powered. (thus the under tube)
change it if you want.
you could just widen/move the grip in order to connect it to the rest of the rifle.
(plus I can't figure out how to do an MDL still... Do i need all the animations and such to complete the qc file?)
Oh yea, I apologize again, I unwrapped in perspective of what you would see ingame, so some part's are poorly unwrapped. (ie, the stock/lower part of the stock, and the right side. and most of the bottom...)

1)The material on your grip is way too blurry, i'd suggest a better or just different material for that.
2) TSA logo could stand out a bit more - more contrast is needed, and maybe move it up just a bit?
3)The metal plate on the back of the butt doesnt look quite right. Not trying to insult you, but i think you should remove it. Because it isnt modeled in, the bevel/embossing just doesnt cut it. Some sort of black line the Stock would be enough detail, me thinks.
4) the safety(?) could use more detail.... Maybe write On/off or whatever next too it.
5) can the bullpup(?) thing be defined more? it blends in too much with the back around it.
6) The grip on the front of the gun is much better in the new version, like it very much.
7) Metal is done very well, like the chrome. Nice refinement on the model too. The shorter clip is better.

otherwise, lookin' good. add in some things to the texture... something to make it less bland, it's good, but it needs little thingies and such.
Stick in some iron sights from behind it, in between the 2 uppity things. The iron sights should look like this:

Also, if possible, howabout a concept version, and the original, shown in the first pics?

there's only a couple of things i can think of:
- you probably don't need the 'safety' in front of 'on' and 'off'
- needs more detail in the stock (like the front grip, which looks awesome)
1) Dont need safety in front of on/off, and maybe pillow emboss the on/off so in looks ingraved.
2) Still think you can play around the hand grip next to the trigger.
3) Im not sure on this, but maybe the clip should be a different colour?
try making the safety with this style of symbol:

and maybe see what adding some highlights/things to the front grip would look like.
