There has alway been talk of an AvP movie ever since the scene in predator 2 with the alien skull. Fox nixed the idea though, and instead it became the comic book, than the video game. Hopefully they will follow through with this one! <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

funny thing is, the skull was just a joke ^^;

One of the guys working on the SFX and stuff for Predator 2 had previously worked on one of the alien films. When they were asked to do the skull cabinet he thought it'd be fun to sculpt an alien head and stick it in with the rest unwittingly starting a massive and very silly war amongst the fanpeoples and really sparking off the huge AvP 'OMG' fest that still gets some people excited to this day <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'>

Are you mad? How much crack have you smoked today?

Resident Evil the movie? Like the games?.....wha? The only similarities they hold are zombies, a 'T-Virus' and a licker.

None of the games have lasers that cut people in multiple, yet equaly sized, chunks. None of the games have a 'hive'. None of the games' main characters have amnesia or anything as far fetched as that storyline. On another note, the movie was good as a standalone movie, not related to the games...just like the Final Fantasy movie (none of the games correlate to eachother, why should the movie coincide with a game?).

Additionally, I think most people would vote Alien 3 worse than Alien:Resurrection; despite the fact both of them were pretty bad.

On Topic:

We all know the movie should be called: "Aliens vs Marines with Predators thrown in for sales" .
Anyone know who plays the Predator? I wanna know who replaces Michael Peter Hall <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'> . I'd also like to know if they're going to use the predator 'electromagnetic' vision from the game or something...in Predator 2 the predator had like 6 different modes...so..whatever.

I just hope it has an Aliens-esque plot...maybe a couple 100 aliens, couple 1000 humans and a squad of predators <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'> ....all but 1 predator survive! (actually, we all know it'll be one human who survivees, but, whatever).

(If anyone has actually seen the Predator movie trailer, the trailer actually refers to Dutch (read: Arnold) as the Predator (" Now he'll have to become....the Predator"))

The RE movie was also missing the constant ammo problems of the games (lol) and had close combat!!! what the heck? There was never any punching/kicking and there weren't any herbs or even RE-esque camera angles.
The end with her standing the city is good though because it's about the only time you really think "WOW! just like the game!!!"

If you want something to really make you squirm, watch the bit where the licker hits the glass with it's sorta shoulder thingy. It's obvious as heck it's a big rubber thingy moving on a rig. Saw that the first time I watched the film and laughed myself silly ^^;

If you want to really be worried about the film just watch the 'behind the scenes' film thingy. There's no film footage of AvP itself so there's not really anytyhing in the way of spoilers though Paul does go on about these shuriken weapons he made up for the preds that reek of bad design though nobody seems to have told him that <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

In the other thread someone said it takes place in 2004 (from the Featurette)...I think that was just a plan on the year it would come out (you know,"...in 2004, the terror hits theatres" kind of thing).

The featurette gives it a kind of dumb premise but it might be okay. That guy doesn't look like he watched the movies enough, despite saying, "you'd be hard pressed to find someone who's seen the movies more than me." kida... it's like saying 'well done' to a kid for taking something like the most amazing clay sculpture the world has ever seen (but not fired in a kilhn yet so it's still soft) and smashing with their bare hands into a pancake saying "waii! I made this!"

It's like handing over NS to the people who keep suggesting AWPs in the S&I forum only to get back a mod that won't even run and when it does it's like a direly bad CS clone and then telling them "good job"

James Cameron or Ridley Scott could've maybe done this justice but Paul Anderson's past record screams "I'm gonna make a trashy film". If you don't know why hardened Alien and Predator fans DON'T like Anderson's little titbits, then no amount of explaining will help you.

Unfortunately this "film" will likely make some money off the fanboys who'd pay to see anything. Unless there's significant improvement in the script and premise, I doubt I'll pay to see it.... at most I might watch it some night 5 years down the line when its free on late night tv.
