Possibly Hera. Well, actually the OLD Hera was... uh... excessively large and cool. They chopped it up. Actually I think all the maps are about as big as half-life supports, it's just that some are more condensed then others.

    Veil is also fairly large.

Ollj was working on the largest NS map I was aware of, ns_complex. He might have abandoned work on it due to hitting limits, but do a search in the mapping forum to see how far he got. It was HUGE.

i'd have to say ns_hera and ns_nothing are the biggest maps

ns_2wad (working name) is prety big, its only got 1 hive, and looks like it will need a squeze to get the other 2 in.

Also, the map bsp is about 14 megs, and thats with no info_loactions, and after a clean up with the opt_plnz by cagey

actually, i think ns_origin is the largest - as in the most area. nothing and veil are also large. hera isn't that big at all.

ns_osmsiege is pretty big. Takes a year to get around the map without celerity/blink/JP

Man, does anyone have the old hera? I would just like to walk around it, just looking at the mini map in all the screenshots makes me drool.

ns_fenris was scheduled to be in 2.0 til the source was lost, it was a huge level with some 15 res nodes and 2 dbl node rooms...

I somehow doubt that amckern. The 'old hera' he is referring to only existed within the pre 1.0 playtests.

By my estimates, Hydrosity is now roughly the same size as old hera.

ns_fenris is huge. I like this map, don't let the marines get both double res <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Yeah, I was disappointed about that. Fenris was awesomely huge.

how big are ns_fenris and ns_cilrais_1229 compared to ns_nothing? all the maps that came with ns 2.0 seem very small...

Siege maps and "ive just learned mapping" maps tend to be oversized but you dont notice it that much because of its textures being scaled by 8x and more and their geometry detail is low.
Im not sure when I continue ns_complex, its 2 times as big as official ns maps (longer , not larger) and it eats compile limits for breakfast.

    Size doesnt matter that much.
  • Mr_N00bMr_N00b Join Date: 2003-10-14 Member: 21691Members
when i was saying bigger maps i meant like... if someone took (ex) ns_veil and added like 10x the rooms and halls so the size of it now would only be like 1/5 the size of the map with more rooms and hallsways. not the maps with big rooms like siege maps. it might be impossible to make maps that big but it would be great fun

I wonder what a large collosal map would do to balance... It would definately mean more high tech battles because of the res node count. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

thats nothing, stargate-xt9, has 4 double node rooms, and 2 tripple node roooms

not to mention 10 times the size of lost... possibly even bigger.
