<div class="IPBDescription">I really mean different...really...</div> Anyone has some crazy strats that really dont work much, but sometimes, or a stupid idea that hasnt been properly tested?
I cant think of any wierd enough right now but itll come...

Definitely the oddest game I've played.
Did I mention the map was ns_lost?
But I tried Gorge Rushing Marine Main base, in NS_veil... it worked VERY well... we actually Won...

I get the feeling that marines think gorges are weak....
Gorges start out with plenty of res, so 8 gorges means 8 OCs or x OCs with x upgrade chambers, and niether is a good scenario if you add the gorges with them. 3 spits = 60 damage, near a skulk bite, and gorges spit about thrice per second. Secondly, Heal Spray stacks effects....hint, hint

Actually, the point of the strat that you are referring to is that it doesn't matter if your unbuilt rt's are killed. The marines build some rt's, and aliens can't build any because they are all blocked. If the aliens completely work together to kill an rt and then place their own before the commander can place another unbuilt one there, then the marines will expand unstopped and actually build all of the rt's they placed. They will have an insane amount of res in no time, while aliens will be lucky to get a fade out, and even luckier if it has regen.

How about this in 2.1?
Build an Arms lab then upgrade armor right away. While upgrading build Armory and have everybody stock up on ammo. When armor upgrade is done give everyone a welder and assault the hive, just make sure everyone keeps everybody else welded. Since the welder takes up 4th weapon slot, everyone will have a full stock of both LMG and Pistols. Then all you need is a comm to do the medspam dance with.

You do know that the welder replaces your pistol in slot 2 right?

hmm might work if there are no teamwork for aliens <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->. welder doesnt enhance marine firepower tho...I would incorprate that in a shotty rush and just drop a few welders (2-3) to compensate since we all cant be welding at the same time.

that's interesting.. scary though, and you'd need the support of the rines. not having ups say 5 minutes into the game has the rines screaming for them, usually.
but prolly would shave quite a bit of time off of getting HA. nice counter to lots of lerk and gas.
i'm not sure if the vanilla no upped rines could last as well as secure rts against fully upped and perhaps tier 2 aliens though.
As quickly as I could I ran to waist and killed the skulk who was taking down the com chair there, hoped in com placed an IP. My partner was still alive and hoped down from the res node to help build. (During this we were under heavy attack from the skulks spawning in waist, luckely some would run out down the hallway and leave us be.) after a few more people spawned in I built another IP and an arms lab, I also placed several mine packs ont the ground.(By this time we no res becouse our old rt was destroyed). So i had to save 15 res for the resource tower.
For the next 5-10 minutes we were in a constant battle with the Kharaa. I kept placing more mine packs down in this time and kept researching better armor and weapons. Sever times during the course of this battle I had to jump out of COM and kill the skulk eating the IP. We also had to weld the vents shut becosue some of the aliens would go around and into the vents and attack at once from many sides, in order to flank us. I never bothered to get a Turret factory becouse of the lack of money, and mines were being very effective.
Becouse we destroyed the alien's RES tower, they had no money to build a new hive. (1.04, remeber it was 70 res for a hive.) The marines rarly focused fire ont the hive becouse either: There were too few of us left alive to worry about the hive, or we were under heavy attack by skulks and we had to defend what littel base we had.
By the time i droped a protolab and lev.2 wepons were done we had a firm hold in Waist and the Marines constantly attacked the hive in a despret effort to kill the hive before the aliens spawn. We finally took down the hive and the marines won the match. The game consisted of 8 marins vs. 9 aliens.
This was one of the most adreneline packed and exciting, yet wierd, games I have ever played in NS.

Another strat on bast thats not going to win u the game. Um near main aft where the bridge is. You know bridge over this electrical pit that if u fall in u die. OK drop comm chair at the very edge of the electircal platform below the bridge. Through careful and very exact movement u can position a marine near the edge of the bridge. He will then slowly edge himself off and while falling pressback so that he lands on a light under the bridge. From there jump and land on the unbuilt comm chair exactly. If done right he would be in red life but have made it. Build the cc. Now heres the fun part. Either drop ips on the bridge and have a invincible comm chair or drop ips down under the bridge as well. THen u would need to send another marine to land on the comm chair exactly. From there he would have to jump from ip to ip making sure he doesnt touch the ground and build. If u capture a few res nodes u can eventually put ur entire base down there and marines will live by jumping from buidlking to buidling. Then u can get jps and go attack. <-- Not known to win games
