Chances are something like it exists for another mod, so its only a matter of finding it and obtaining permissions.

I think the only way that makes sense is the discarding method.

We need to make the reload animation fit into the reload time.

It's called a speedloader clip. It's a circular piece of metal or plastic with a knob that holds bullets (5 in this case) in a way that you just plug it into the cylinder, twist+discard the clip, and snap the cylinder shut. As opposed to reloading it bullet-by-bullet. It greatly increases the reload time. The HL Python uses it, for example.
