Just while browsing the internet, i seem to have goten alot of ad programs onto my computer. Ive found about 4 of them, located in program files, i dont install things there so they were pretty easy to spot, but i cant get rif of them.

Most of them are just folders with single 200-300kb .dll files. When i try to delete them it says the are write-protected which they arnt, or in use, which my task managers says that i have only explorer and the required system things that i cant stop the process of.

Ive tried ad-aware 6.0 full registered eddtion, but it says that it cant do anything about these things while they are running.

So, does ayone know how to either trun these programs off so i can delete them, or just an easy way to delete them?

Run "msconfig" on the startup tab you can disable things that run at startup. Then you might be able to delete them. Barring that try booting up in safe mode? That usually disables all but the vital startup options. Strange, I thought Ad-aware killed adware processes before it tried to delete files.

That sounds quite sinister... What OS you running? The safe mode boot up would be your best bet then run ad-aware to see if it clears it up, also do a virus scan while your at it.

Take it from there and keep us posted.

First of all, get a firewall. I recommend ZoneAlarm, unless you can get a hardware one. Also, go to http://security.kolla.de and download Spyboy S&D. It's much better than Ad-Aware. (It detects more. Over 10000 malware types).

lol I remember going on my cousin's computer once,
somehow there was this page called search.htm in his system32 folder.
    lol gess wat it did?

It was set as IE's default webpage and I started up IE adn saw the page, standard looking search engine...
I continued my search for podbots (for my other cousin, i dont play cs) and I typed:
"pod bot 2.5 download" in the search field and pressed search, I go away for a while whilst the sites load and come back notice lots of dodgey sites filled with ummm, dodgey things...I also noticed this window that displayed his ip and said ISP tracking has began, Risk: VERY HIGH RISK, and lots of other stuff which looked like he was going to get tracked down and sued
