and you could just rename the model names to whatever they are in half-life, but the animations will probably get messed up. You would have to get someone to convert it.

To "unpack" .pak files you need a program called pakscope, do a search on google.com.

Unluckily, for anyone who senses Steam's inevitibility, they have undoublty installled it and noticed they've foreshadowed PAK. files with GCF.

Although I see no reason for them to do that o_O Unless I would actually guess it would have something to do with it's automatic updating.

It is. If they used .pak it would have to download the WHOLE pk again

*sigh*
/me misses the NS SG

Ah well I learned to convert and reanimate so I made myself a nifty Team-colored NS Default Pistol for teh tranq. It is t3h sechs.

Point is, if you want those models, you're going to have to convert yourself. To get them out of the .pak, I use HLMV myself. Make sure you specife you want to save them as models (by adding .mdl) to the end of the name, or it'll export them as merely generic files. Then you'll need to convert/reanimate them.

Converting models from different mods is sorta easy. Just gotta have the models used in the mod you're converting to and a few tools. Just follow this conversion guide here and you ought to do fine. Note that if you're gonna convert HL models to other mods, don't release it publicly. It's fine if you're gonna do personal conversion though.

does this mean the ns team will use uber skulks to turn me into gibs because i want to use the ns models instead of half life models for my personal use in the single player mode since i think they are better?
• pantspants Join Date: 2002-12-20 Member: 11188Members
you dont have to edit the pak/gfc, if you place a model in the model folder, it will load that one instead of the pak one.
