Crazy Bases...

<div class="IPBDescription">that aren't so crazy...</div> I've been thinking a lot lately about onii taking back outposts in 3 seconds flat. even with a crapload of turrets, only so many will hit it, and if it has regen, you're pretty much done.

then i thought... build the **** where the onii can't get...

powersilo for example... build the stuff on the sides, instead of the middle. marines can get there no problem, but onii will have a hell of a time getting up there. and it will take them just as long to get back down, and they will be taking fire the whole time. if you put the turrets on the edge fades will have a hard time landing there as well. its really that simple.

its similar to the usual way to lockdown waste (turrets around the big box, blocking the ladder). its just transferred to other locations.

imagine what you could do with towering...

i know skulks can get there more easily than marines, which is an inerent disadvantage, but thats nothing that a few turrets and an elec tf and a pg can't fix.

i've never seen this in any other spot. i think it would work very well. give it a try (with emphasis on GIVE IT A TRY) and let me know what <i>you</i> find. i've tried it in silo, and it worked wonders..

    I have seen this tactic in action. From the aliens' perspective, it is a cheap tactic. From the Marines point of view, a brilliant tactical move. It has a weakness though: for marines to be able to move around so much requires JPs - with are sporebait. That is how we took back powersilo. Massive spore spammage.

    Every tried to put a tf in a trigger_hurt area? In the 1.x days you could on some maps, Althought there werent any eletrifcation, it **** some aliens off when they couldnt find the tf in forebodying antichamber in ns_nothing. (yes, marines can jump off and land on the tf without dying.) Not sure if its still possible now, have to check. You could also make a tf fall thru the floor of power silo and let it fall on the acid pool. But that is only slow damage, not instant kill.
