Brgins back memories from Neocron, dam Twilight guardian kept marching in from the wasteland and setting up in pepper park.

Oh we delt with them in force, heaby heavy force.
So they decided to park themselfs in the faction HQs, that was a problem, only 1 way in and out.

Still, bountys were on the list to be introduced when I left, and I m hppy they wernt around, I had a huge argument with the 2nd in charge of my clan and the news sites didnt report it in my favour thank god there were no bountys otherwise I'd have been in trouble because the streets were getting crowded with PKs.

I still consider SWG the biggest failure in the young history of MMOs, yet, I'm intrigued by this. It's all a question of balance. If the Jedi apperencite we're talking about here is capable enough to have a recognizeable chance with a bounty on her head, it's one of the coolest moves ever - she'll have one hell of a time testing her powers, and, be honest: If you were a Bounty Hunter, what would you prefer to being able to say "Yeah, I was defeated once. It was a Jedi. No big thing, I think I took her left hand with me." while trying to make a move on that dancer in your favorite messhall?
Even if the Jedi character dies (as she sooner or later will), the player can be sure of one thing: She's become part of SWGs history, and that's damn impressive considering that SWG didn't have a history to speak of to that point.
If that Jedi doesn't stand a snowballs chance in hell, however, it'll only frustrate - the Jedis player, the killers (who won't feel as though they earned that bounty), and the community as it'll feel as though the devs allowed the very first Jedi to be 'eaten alive'.

Let's see how it works out.

Hope you weren't one of the many people trying to assassinate me in Neocron or I'll have to beat you up ^~

Neocron was actually fun because it was so unsafe... I couldn't go to somewhere without someone trying to kill me because they knew who I was. It even led to a city-wide conflict in techhaven once when someone successfully killed me. I'd imagine the jedi thing's like that but in a much, much, much bigger scale so it'd be kinda fun

unlike the jedi I didn't get a choice in being hunted though =P

before anyone thinks I thought I was famous or anything, I wasn't... I just talked a lot so lots of people knew who I was and after a while people started trying to kill me just because whacking someone lots of people know gets you a rep or something. well... that and I wrote a short story thingy on the forums once and even more people seemed to know who I was afterwards including someone who ran up and went all fanperson on me o.O

Bah I was in the HE Brotherhood you know in i think it was pluto.

Many clans were hitting about 60 peeps then falling in and disbanding. We had started down the same road.
Our leader from the beta got held up in mexico for a month and got beaten pretty bad. When we were without a leader things got nasty.
Still when i was interviewd for one of the news sites my words were twisted to make me look like the villan. I ended up stranded at the military base without a ride.

Anyway, Neocron was one of those games where youd go out to go somewhere and get caught in some random street fight. And having PKs activly STALK YOU was very disturbing, especialy when you decide to make a run for your apartment and they get in.

I played under the name Xiller BTW.

1) the universe: In star wars the jedi were hunted and spent a lot of time running and being betrayed when they could find shelter with the rebels.

2) choice: they didn't have to go a jedi, it's not forced on you so if you want to make a char and not risk it all just don't make a jedi. Simple =/

ooh! I was on pluto too, though I didn't stay for it to go pay to play... I'd gotten bored by then. Wasn't in any clans or anything though me and a 'nathan profitt' were always fighting... I'd shout abuse at him from the shadows while he'd PK everyone and everything like he always did. He was pretty infamous during the betas and decided to keep an eye out for me when I convinced several people not to sell/do implants for him =P

I couldn't stand the idea of a Star Wars MMORPG partially due to the fact it's star wars ^^;
They had some clever ideas (on paper at least) but it still sounds like a great big levelling treadmill in the end to me =/

U235 edit: you take the risks you take the fall. If you go on a tightrope without a safety net just because you know it'll make you mean something then fall and break your leg you've only got yourself to blame whether you paid to take the priveledge or not.
Try telling a casino manager you should get your money back because you paid and see what back-alley you end up in

Its all player participation.

IF, and I mean IF these jedi sit about on the more....erm... random servers, then chances are every noob with enough exp is going to come out of the woodwork if they flash sabre.

On the RP style servers, there's the opportunity for a Jedi Underground of some form.

As for the ghosts, afaik you need to make Jedi Master otherwise you're just dead. Jedi Master allows you back as a ghost, which will be fun in itself - imagine a big party of dead jedi shooting the breeze in the desert.

Being stalked with a price on your head? Great thrill, and bound to break up the tedium. I mean lets face it, imagine you're sitting haggling over some prices in a cantina, suddenly there's a bit of noise and some nublet gets sabered in two. Has that or has that not just brightened your day?

This just points to the fact that pay for play shouldnt exist, becuas the only legit argument about the bounty being bad is "well they payed for 4 1/5 months of the game and whamo, no more charachter"

I'd even be able to accept pay for play if it was truly pay for play meaning if I pay you for 1 month of gaming, give it to me

in other words 1 month = 720 hours of actual game time

Well, unnlike most of you, I actually know quite a bit about star wars.

This is so friggin appropriate, its funny. And remember, these are PADAWANS.

In the actual SW universe, padawans go for about 300,000 credits and above, depending on importance of the planet their currently located on(i.e., hoth is 275,000 to 300,000, and Tatoinne is 300,000-325,000, and finally you get places like Corinth, going for 400,000-500,000. Actual masters are in the millions, but none have been cought for bounty)

i stand by what i said earlier

it has some good ideas, some bad ideas

but no matter how much i/we discuss it in forums, they wont listen.

bah

The thing that gets me is that if you read the article and forum posts beyond it, you'll find out that the only way jedi can be killed by other players is if they happen to trigger an NPC event that has an NPC in it strong enough to kill her....

So the fuss about bounty hunters coming for her is laughable as they won't be able to engage/kill her with their character as far as everything I've read regarding her player status....

Wrong.

The only way to get hunted is if they display use of the force too much in public, then an APB goes out to the bounty hunter missions, and only the super-duper-top hunters get the mission.

Well examine the Jedis in the movies. These guys can take on just about anything and walk out with a scratch or two. I reckon that if SWG is anything like that these Jedis will require some heafty work to take down. Getting the whole community after them? I can just see the Jedis saying "Oh sweet, free exp heading my way"

Are there Sith in SWG? Because that would be interesting, seeing as the Sith would seem to be the only ones who can take down Jedi with anything approaching regularity.

I thought one of them had been killed already? Something about being 'eyeshot spammed' until they died? o.O

Anyways U235, uh... no... it's not. In a casino each time you successfully gamble you gain more chips. If you slip up/get unlucky you take the big fall (rather like a jedi dying). At the end of the day you took the risk. You can either hold your head up high and think "that was cool" and learn from it or you can curl up in the corner crying about how it's not fair.

What's next? Trying to say it's unfair that people who drive cars into walls all day have a chance of dying? I love people saying taking responsibility for your own choices is silly or unfair ^^
oh... wait... I'd better go sue mcDonalds because I spilled their coffee in my lap... after all I paid money for it

Hey, if the Jedi doesn't wanna be hunted, he/she could just spend their time out in the boonies, sending close friends into town to buy/sell stuff.
