The Ultimate Battle...

Been there, done that
Just had THE most amazing game EVER, can't remember the name of the map atm, but it's with Sewer, Ventilation and Generator hives in it.

I joined the game as a marine sometime after the start, because the marines had relocated to the new dobule res area and had a good base up. The aliens were rarely seen and after a short encounter at Generator hive (when we tried to secure it) they seemd to pretty much disappear...

They continued to harrass us though and we made sevaral attempts at attacking and taking down both Ventilation and Sewer hives, which the aliens had control of. Eventually they fought back and took over Generator and while several teams of heavies and masses of marine LMG/LA launched attacks on all the hives, with more than 1 sieging attempt being thrown back by Xenociding skulks they finally got enough res for a 5-6 Onos, this didn't stop us though and with ALOT of fighting and several MORE attempts, some with HA/HMG or HA/Shotguns and some with LMG/LA we finally took down ventilation hive.

The battle continued this way for the better part of an hour with marine teams constantly attacking the alien hives and Xenociding skulks and multiple Onoses constantly attacking the marine base. Eventually though, the res just wasn't enough and attacks by skulks, fades and several Onos was to prove too powerfull. A few marines tried to get away and after a warning beacon had been set, spawning some of us at the marine start, we tried to setup a new base.
The commander dropped a new CC and once that was done, a IP. Unfortunately the aliens knew we were here... they had heard the beacon and with 3 LMG/LA marines VS 1 Onos and several skulks the game was over...

The last TSA bastion was destroyed and the last few marines were comprehensively slaughtered...

But even though we lost, this one game was enough to remind me why I started playing NS in the first place... A great game with the Ventilation hive as the main site of the battle.

The best thing about NS: a valiant loss still can be more fun than a major win in some other games. It's a great game if you can lose and have fun at the same time.

Yeah, i know what you mean. The other day i was playing as a skulk. I joined kinda late though, so it ended up being a buncha skulks, 2 lerks, a few gorges one fade and one onos against a group of marines equiped with HA/jp and HMG/Shotguns. We had two hives and about 3 res while they had about 5 res.

The marines were stationed in biodome, and after about 10 or so minutes they got furnace. We didnt give up though, and while the marines were busy with double, we attacked furnace. We managed to get it back and put up the hive. At some point, the marines took back furnace and we decided to get back biodome. After a few minutes, we destroyed their base at biodome, but the marines relocated to double. So what ended up was that we played for over a 100 minutes as skulks and lerks(since the fade and onos died). We managed to hold off 5 marines at a time from ventilation. It was an awsome game. Shows how much a skulk can do against a buncha heavies.

I just played a game on COFR where the we (aliens) couldn't figure out what upgrade chamber to drop so we just decided not to drop any. We got three hives on ns_origin and won the game without dropping a single upgrade chamber.

Yes, we had some OCs. We were overconfident and thought it would be fun to try. No doubt if the marines started winning big we would have dropped some, but it never became necessary. We told them we didn't drop a single upgrade chamber and they remained quietly frustrated. I would be too if I had lost to non-upgraded aliens at hive three.

Bah... guess that part is a little unclear.. the thing is in-between the mentioned space the aliens got back up... and down... and back up... and down, a number of times...

The main feel of most of the game was like this: Kill a hive, loose the hive, kill another hive, get attacked from the first hive, kill the first hive AGAIN, loose both hives... get xeno'ed till another hive went down... and so on and so on. A bit messy so if I got some of the "events" mixed up, sorry.

Oh, that one round lasted the better part of 3 hours btw
