How to MOVE sqd. to battle
In many battles Marines say: "**** we are dead" or "Give freakin HA then we kill them all(later all be dead)". One time i played on my motherland (Polish) server ... map ns_lost preety mess but win was to aliens couse of rush etc. I shouted to my marines (I wasn'n comm) "Ok team regroup to me! Cmon get ammo and lets go" in my eyes i saw that all marines in base (hmm 7-6?) moved there where i moved. INCREDIBLE!!! Still motivating them in road to Equ. hive When we reachd destenation. NO ONE SHOOTED TO HIVE we layed siege , pg all set ALL LMGs TO HIVE( ) omg 6 lmg (maybe 1 sg) smashed Hiv. in sec. Later we battled middle rt. better, more HA (but with LMG) all sayed :"Wingman leader us!" then we moved to middle rt. but aliens done F4 (with 2 hives).

What u think about Micro. Motivation?

Erm, this post is to..............do what? Kinda hard to understand though, are you trying to teach us a strategy or asking us a question?

Haha. Years of having to decipher less-than-standard English texts of my mostly non-native-English-speaking countrymen have given me a valuable skill.

Wingman's basically recounting how effective a particular instance of his using voicecomm to rally his team mates was. His Marine team was going down because of heavy alien assaults (with Oni and all) and they were getting quite desperate and resigned. So he just (literally) shouted to the others to follow him and to his surprise they did, making their way as a squad to a hive undetected where they succeeded in dropping a siege base to down it. With morale boosted by a downed hive his team moved on to retake a double res point and eventually won the game with heavies.

His point was that voicecomm motivation by players who know what they're doing can be crucial to winning, which makes a lot of sense. Too often a game is lost when a team gives up trying to fight once Oni start assaulting the Marine base or when heavies start marching into a hive, and everyone panics and F4s to avoid ownage. All it takes sometimes is for one or two optimistic players to point out a viable strategy that no one else thinks about and spectacular turn-arounds can be pulled off.

This could only happen on pub servers, of course, where motivation (or the lack thereof) is an issue. It's only in clan matches that teams fight to the death, after all.

i took part in such a turn-around. map was eclipse. aliens had 3 hives and oni wile we had all upgrades but no hvy weps or ha/jp (ha was researching didnt have nuff res to drop hvy weps). we hold them off long enuff 4 ha to finish and i scream at comm to dropo me gl. he complies and next time oni rush in i nade them. i killed 2 and da rest sctattered. this rfk got us shotties which we used to frag da rest of da oni. we got ha and hmgs next and prepared to assualt maint hive. we march in and find 3 eggs in a cluster. i nade them and then we proceed to blow hive away. then we march to comp core and find another egg. unfortunately it hatches and a onos pops out and eats a shottie. we kill it and blow away hive. then we march to eclipse, blew it awaym, and gg.

Morale is everything on pubs, I swear, and strong leadership helps with that.

I've seen this happen quite a lot. Aliens usually have it easier though (making a turnaround in aliens), but for rines, it does take quite a bit of leadership and good comming to turn a game around when the aliens have 3 hives, onii etc. I've seen one game where the aliens got 3 hives, and the comm lead us to victory without ha. Just shotties, gl, hmgs.

Its nice when you turn around a lost game, especially as aliens.

But it dont happen much because of stupid whiners that give up when a fade kills them or a hive is lost...

Usually it ends in the standard f4 ending...

yes, real "leaders" aside the comm are very useful when the team *NEEDS* to do something and the comm just cant seem to get them to go there, and the other individuals just arent very heroic, but simple peeps who follow orders and let the comm sort it out (like me ) i sometimes try leading a group of peeps, but i dont use a microphone, and "follow me" command doesnt draw that much attention, but if you seem to be like the only one on your team who has a clue, lead the way, and they will follow you to the location the comm wants your team. really wish there were more leader types with mics in NS, they are so cool

Micromotivation is a very good tactic. I always find it helpfull when I comm, having a guy on the ground who is tell marines what to do while I work on other problems. It gets really frustrating when my team doesn't know how to listen, but if I get someone to give out subcommands it makes life alot easier.

Morale is often the most important things. One time I had a poor-skilled team, and they somehow started aiming when I gave them some classical speeches for motivation. Hives went down and we won. Morale is everything - without morale you will lose, guaranteed.

Yes morale is important. I had a game today where the marines were blocked in our base (ns_eclipse) because of 4 fades. The comm hands out shotguns and the marines struggle for a couple of mins to try and bring one down (If you tried to take one down the other 3 would somehow end up behind you ). Eventually we managed to kill one and instantly everyone is like "YEAH! TAKE THAT FADE!" etc and the other 3 fell quickly. We ended up winning the game.

So I guess a tip for fades would be: dont die - it improves marine morale
