left click on marine, then: -right click on some part of the map = move -right click on an unfinished building = build -right click on another marine/a built structure =guard -right click on weldable spots = weld thats the way it SHOULD work
clickining a weld does always produce a weld waypoint but clicking needs to be very accurate. clicking unfinished building randomly generates either a build wp or a move wp. clicking an enemy rendomly generates a move wp or attack wp.
wp type placement is a bit buggy, i think the click needs to be accurate within a few pixels or it just be a move wp
I actually think the different type of wps got broken with 2.0. I think the point still stands that they should make the box bounds a bit looser, or just get rid of multiple waypoints. I personally do Like the multiple commands, instead of just the same old "Move here, Move there, Mmove everywhere" gig we have going on.
I would also like to see a Blinking red move waypoint called the "Critical waypoint" that way you can select all and place one in an onos infested area.
It was always gratifying as comm to give a trouble maker a defend soldier waypoint directly on top of him.
OOOH that reminds me. I don't think this works anymore but back in 1.04 you could put an attack waypoint on an enemy and regardless of where they went the waypoint followed them so your soldier could always know where the skulk was. It was great to scan an area, see a gorge and stick a waypoint right on him. Then your soldiers could track him all over the map. The only drawback was that an attack waypoint that was moving all over the map seriously reduced your FPS.

I don't think that the attack waypoint is still in NS2.0, but it sometimes glitches, I've seen a few of those, once in a game where there was an onos with a bunch of sensories and defence chambers hiding as we were looking for him, com scanned and gave us an attack waypoint somehow, and we attacked it, it killed us all and we went back to the waypoint but it was moving so we followed it... run on sentance... ugh

idk if its still in there, but if u scaned a hive in 1.04, and gave an order to it, it would go "build target" on the hive...confused the hell outta the rines one time when i gav'em that order.

I have never gotten a "pick up equipment at waypoint" or whatever it is. I think that the wp boxes should be fixed, so that they are easier to give, or make wp hotkeys, so that you can choose what type of wp you want to give (move to lcation, attack enemies in location, defend location) without having to click on a specific alien/structure.
I've managed to put the move, weld, defend and build WPs. Also I've seen build WPs being put on unfinished kharaa structures & attack WPs on enemy units that move with them.
